The squirrels have been out for a muddy walk this week, whilst it’s still light for us, with some well earned chips at the end!

Off they go on their Day 2 hike. Let's hope their route planning is spot on or they're not getting their lift home!! Seriously though, well done Scouts.

The Solo Scouts have set up camp and were just about to start cooking their dinner as we left for the night. I took great pride in telling the wardens that they were a really polite group of boys. ☺️

They arrived, they ate, they left.

Our group of Scouts on their Solo Challenge got safely to their checkpoint to eat their lunch (with a hot chocolate), and then continued on their hike up to Bibby's Farm where they'll spend the night.

At Beavers this week, we've looked at the change in seasons and how it affects wildlife. With this in mind, we made bird feeders from fat and seeds (and mealworm - yuk) to hang in our gardens.

On Sunday Alison (Rainbow) and Sophie (Chip) are running the Preston 10k (not run 10k in ages and Sophie has never run that far)
What inspired me is a close friend recently passed away after a battle with dementia. Her son Sam has been raising money for Alzheimers Research UK by running half marathons....... 13.1 miles in a dinosaur suit !!!

Sometimes the weather is just against you, so you have to quickly change things up... Tonight was meant to be a long hike with observations about river health for the Rivers Trust 'Big River Watch'. The weather was grim so we changed it into a short walk and discussion down at steppies, and hot chocolate and games back at the Scout Hut. Their boots were muddy, so we played barefoot games. Let me introduce the game 'Monkey Toes' 🤣
