🌺 The Remembrance period begins.

As we enter this period of reflection, we remember all those who have served, those who made the ultimate sacrifice and all those whose lives have been changed by conflict.

For the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, Remembrance is an opportunity to honour their service and sacrifice, to learn from their stories, and to ensure their legacy lives on in future generations.

Across the country, our cadets and volunteers will join their communities in paying tribute to the fallen. By standing alongside veterans, serving personnel and members of the public, they help keep the act of Remembrance alive.

We will remember them.

Visit to Chorley Fire & Rescue Training Centre

On Tuesday 29 September 2026, the cadets took part in an educational visit to the Fire and Rescue Centre in Chorley.
During the visit, the cadets were shown a range of equipment used by firefighters in their day-to-day work lives, including thermal imaging cameras and fire-resistant uniforms as well as seeing the fire pole in action. The group also had the chance to view the new technology the fire station had to offer: including new drones and robots that were highly insightful to them.
The cadets described the visit as enjoyable, entertaining and informative. They said it gave them an insight into the role of a firefighter and encouraged them to consider careers within the Fire and Rescue Service when they are older.
The cadets also had the great opportunity to handle the attack hose. They were taught why and how the firefighters use it in their daily career. Some said that they nearly got pushed back by the power of the hose but found it very enjoyable, and wet!

✈️ WORK EXPERIENCE APPLICATIONS ARE NOW LIVE!

Applications are now open for Work Experience at Manchester Barton Aerodrome.

If you’re interested in aviation and want to gain an insight into how a busy aerodrome operates, this is your opportunity to apply.

Our placements give students the chance to experience different areas of the aerodrome, meet members of the team and learn more about the wide range of roles involved in day-to-day operations.

Places are limited and applications are expected to be competitive, so take your time with your application and make sure you tell us about yourself, your interests and why you would like to complete Work Experience with us.

📅 Applicants must be available for at least one of the placement weeks listed within the application form.
📅 Applications close at the end of November (applications may close earlier depending on the number received).

At Chorley we always love to see our cadets achieve great things.
Today we are delighted to share the achievements of Cadet Cpl Patel gaining his Gold Cyber Specialist award.
An outstanding effort. This achievement was not easy it took a lot of Cpl Patels own time and hard work to gain this qualification.
You should be very proud of yourself Cpl as we are of you.

🎉 A huge congratulations to Cadet Corporal Patel from Chorley Squadron!

💻 Cpl Patel has successfully completed the Gold Advanced Cyber Specialist Award 🥇 and Bronze Cyber Instructor Course 🥉 at RAF Cosford ✈️.

🔐 The challenging course brought together 15 cadets and included:

🌐 Hands-on networking & cyber security tasks
📚 Cyber theory lessons
🧠 Practical problem-solving
📝 A final examination

⭐ Cpl Patel was also one of only two cadets attending from North Region, making this an especially fantastic achievement! 👏

Their hard work, commitment and enthusiasm for developing their cyber skills have truly paid off. 🚀💻
