Derian House is a purpose built children’s hospice with 12 beds for children and young people up to the age of 18 years, and a four bed extension, The Lodge, which is for young adults aged 16 – 25. At Derian House we offer professional care, practical help and emotional support to the whole family. Whether in the hospice through short planned stays, or in the family home with the backing and encou

ragement of our Derian at Home team, the support we provide is driven entirely by the family’s needs and wishes. We are currently supporting more than 400 families of children with a life-limiting illness in Lancashire, South Cumbria and Great Manchester, and a further 200 families who are receiving bereavement support. For them, Derian House is a lifeline in helping them cope with the highs and lows of their child’s illness, and its aftermath. This year, it will cost us £5million to run our services, with only 12% coming from government funding.

Without the support of their local communities, children's hospice services simply wouldn't exist ✨

We will never fail to be astounded by what YOU do for Derian House. Whether it's jumping out of a plane, running a marathon, or saving up pocket money - without your help, we wouldn't be able to reach the £6m we need in 2026 to keep our doors open... 🫶
..and later this year, 35 of our incredible family members, friends and fundraisers will be heading to Morocco to walk a gruelling 30 miles through the Sahara Desert to raise vital funds for the families in our care! 🇲🇦

This , we're recognising the work of those who go above and beyond to support Derian House - and we couldn't do that without mentioning our intrepid explorers, who've been extremely busy over the last six months raising vital funds towards the trek's £100,000 fundraising goal 🤩

From football games and masquerade balls, to poker nights and even a golden retriever meetup (!), the team has so far managed to raise a stupendous £56,068.21... with five months still to go before they land in Africa ready for a gruelling adventure of a lifetime 🐪

There were plenty of smiles at Derian House’s annual sports day yesterday, thanks to a special visit from Wigan Warriors rugby stars Patrick Mago and Sam Walters 🤩

The pair joined children and young people for an afternoon of fun to kick off our celebrations, taking part in the warm-up dance before getting stuck into the egg-and-spoon race and relay race 💪

They cheered everyone on throughout the afternoon, held the finish-line ribbon as winners crossed the line, and handed out medals to celebrate everyone’s achievements 🏅

Derian House’s annual sports day brings together children, young people, families, and staff for an afternoon of inclusive fun, with activities adapted to ensure everyone can take part in a way that works for them ✨

Thanks so much to the team at Wigan for making our annual occasion super special 🍒🤍

This , we're highlighting how children's hospices help families create lasting memories and make every moment count 🥰

When Natasha and Jon's daughter Ariya died at just 17 hours old, Derian House gave the family precious extra time together through its specialist cold room facilities, the Sunflower Rooms 🌻

The hospice also helped make a final trip to Blackpool beach possible – a place that has since become known as "Ariya's place" 💫
