Thankyou ❤️ everyone for your constant support and donations
I've just spent the last couple of hours bathing our poorly and injured hedgehogs 💔
So many are arriving ( despite trying to keep the admissions low)! Simply due to my hip replacement operation pending
They still need our help
I've spent over 2 hours, for the second time today, bathing our Injured poorly hedgehogs
Plus fluids and meds and pain relief
I've got hoglets to still feed tonight
Due to volunteer illness and holidays
We have struggled at the rescue
We will offer as much help as we can but unfortunately we have so many arrivals needing help it's a very tough time
Appreciate everything you are doing thankyou ❤️
I can't get to all the calls and my team of volunteers are helping when they can
The rescue is absolutely overloaded with poorly hoglets and hedgehogs so we are trying to work through them all
They need alot of attention that's why we are full as all rescues are full of poorly hoglets and hedgehogs needing critical care treatment
If you find a hedgehog out in the day please contain and offer warmth and a snuggly bed and house over night
Please feed your hedgehogs at night and offer fresh water and kitten biscuits
I've still got baby hoglets to feed again for the 6th time today
Very busy and very full sadly
You know I would take them all but unfortunately due to.my hip replacement operation pending I'm so sorry I have to be realistic
That's killing me??!???
Ok things we need
Sudocrem
Syringes 1 ml and 10 ml
Royal canin recovery food
Hibiscrub
Honey
Abidec
Cotton wool pads
Purina kitten biscuits
Go cat Kitten biscuits
Large size gloves
Kitchen rolls

Thankyou ❤️ for your generous donations and support
These poorly hoglets and hedgehogs need the rescue to recover from illness, dehydration, parasite burdens and injuries
Your support really helps these precious hedgehogs to have a chance to recover and be released back to the wild fit and well
I've still got tiny hoglets who now need another feed and possibly fluids too before I can rest and sleep
A very busy rescue looking after these precious souls
Hopefully another week and we can release more healthy hedgehogs back to the wild ❤️

Despite our closed rescue due to overwhelming new arrivals 2 more have arrived today in absolutely heartbreaking conditions
The first one was really struggling to breath, mouth opened trying to breath 💔
Extreme chest,infection,lungworm and possibly pneumonia
I've steamed his chest, given steroids and antibiotics and metacam
He's now settled on a heat mat
Another arrival at only 142 grams
No mummy around, no siblings
So tiny so vulnerable and would not survive without warmth and feeds
Now settled on a heat mat after a couple of feeds and a little sub cu fluids
We had a good day at pole green garden centre raising over £200
That really will help the rescue very much
Thankyou ❤️ for your donations
We have ordered royal canin recovery food today
As we are going to run out tonight sadly
All the new arrivals need this food and sadly we haven't got enough to feed them all tomorrow
Does anyone have any they can spare please tomorrow?
We also are running out of sub cu fluids
Baxter or Aqupharm
Sorry I haven't had time for photos tonight
It's been so busy and I just needed to help the hedgehogs and hoglets and get them fed settled warm and meds
Update you all tomorrow as I'm still working and then off to sleep ❤️
Thankyou for helping the rescue at such a crit time
So many out there needing help it's absolutely heartbreaking please be vigilant and keep feeding and provide fresh water always
Our night visitors really need your support

Sadly, a mummy and her 2 hoglets arrived 27/5 having been taken from their nice cosy safe bed in a shed.
She struggled to settle as the disturbance really upset her. But after a few hours in a safe, warm, quiet environment, she settled with her babies, thankfully.
Sadly, she was poorly with a severe cough and chest infection. I treated her calmly for a devastating lungworm burden.
For days she was quiet and nursing her young babies ❤️ She has been a wonderful caring mummy ❤️ She has received calm treatment and very little disturbance.
Unfortunately, tonight she was very unhappy and unsettled and not interested in her babies.
Her 2 hoglets were squealing but she didn't want anything more to do with them so I have had to separate her tonight from her babies.
I was concerned for her as she's so unwell. She's done an amazing job so far, raising her 2 hoglets, but she definitely was stressed tonight.
I've now placed her in a quiet hutch away from her babies. I will take care of her babies now ❤️

Another 3 poorlies arrived today!

152g baby, so cold and poorly, and should not be without his mummy.
Another found with devastating injuries to ears, face, nose and feet. Wounds bathed, sub cu fluids, pain relief and antibiotics. Poo samples for more treatment tomorrow.
The rat trap hedgehog has facial injuries, probably from trying desperately to escape. He also had baths to clean up the wounds and clear the debris plus antibiotics and pain relief.
So far all the new hedgehogs have roundworm and lungworm parasite problems.
Treatment has started this evening.
Very busy day, everyday!

I greatly appreciate your donations.
Money is needed sadly to keep on top of food, medication, syringes, needles, Manuka honey for wounds, hibiscrub, Hills recovery food, Purina kitten biscuits.

Thankyou ❤️

Another tough day but these precious souls are now warm, fed, hydrated and out of pain and not struggling in this awful wet cold weather.

Please do not turn up at the Rescue with hedgehogs.

We have no space and can't take any more. The Rescue is already under severe pressure financially so we are CLOSED to new arrivals until further notice.
Thank you.

Another new arrival today sadly caught in a rat trap
Unfortunately has facial injuries so has needed a good warm hibiscrub bath to clean the debris so I can start treatment
Injured hedgehogs need to be cleaned first to assess their injuries before any treatment can begin
I've done 6 baths today and most hedgehogs have been really calm and easy to treat but there's always one that really doesn't want my help
All now cleaned up, wounds addressed, Manuka honey applied, antibiotics and pain relief as well as sub cu fluids and parasite burden treatments have begun
It's all calm " for now" in intensive care

Just sat out after topping up my night feeds due my hedgehog visitors and spend 20 minutes watching the bars all over my garden ❤️ delightful to watch

A 225 gram hoglet appeared at 6.30pm in my garden alone, freezing cold and very unwell
Then another limping at 7.15pm has a swollen toe injury
It never ceases to amaze me that they find the right help
All now treated with baths, feeds, fluids, pain relief and antibiotics yet to check poo for parasites
Mummy and her 2 hoglets are doing well
I had to intervene as mummy was coughing so badly she has a nasty chest infection and lungworm
It took me over 3 hours to settle her down as she was so stressed from being disturbed
Thankfully she did settle after a little treatment and a secure safe quiet new bed with her two babies
It was a worrying time for her and me ❤️
We've just discovered that the community centre is now closed for a few months for refurbishment so we are unable to host a spring/ summer open day!!!
Delayed until August sadly which will certainly affect our fundraising plans
Tombola event this Saturday at pole green garden centre please support us, if you can, so we can keep the food supplies in stock
Weather omg the weather we've had to delay releases due to this horrendous rain
Hopefully next week?? We can start releasing again our healthy hedgehogs back to the wild so a very busy week planned
My pre-operation appointment was yesterday, so sorry if I missed any calls, I was at wrightington hospital for a few hours
I'm now waiting for the results and a confirmation date to have my hip replacement operation
If you can donate anything towards the hedgehogs food costs we would really appreciate it

Thankyou ❤️ so much everyone for your support
We know it's tough out there and we are finding it very tough here running the rescue especially with more and more being found so badly injured
Out in the day collapsed and cold
Dehydrated and small or injured 💔
Sadly having to " put to sleep" seriously injured hedgehogs has been very high and it's only June
We have over 20 now receiving daily wound cleaning baths, fluids for dehydration and medication for parasite burdens
Really appreciate your hibiscrub delivery thankyou ❤️ please send more if you can as we are going through so much on a daily basis
Desperately need more Manuka honey for applying to wounds and vetericyn wound spray
We have to ask as funds are low I'm afraid 💔
THANKYOU ❤️ to Pet shop.co.uk for your very generous donation the poorly hedgehogs absolutely love love love royal canin recovery food we honestly can't keep up with them all
If they are eating well, whilst in recovery, that really does help them very much ❤️
We also need to keep on top of our needles, 1ml and 10 ml syringes orders for admistrating medication and fluids

We have a tombola event next weekend so we will raise funds from that as well as a Chorley borough council event at the end of the month but in-between fundraising events we would appreciate any small donation you can offer to the rescue

I got a few hours off this afternoon which really was absolutely wonderful to spend a little time with my family 💕 very much needed for me to have a break from the rescue
My pre operation appointment is on Wednesday for my hip replacement operation pending
We are still trying to help as many hedgehogs in need as we can but I have to be realistic as my operation is approaching
Anyone who knows what I'm going through ( pain wise and mobility) will know why I'm very restricted at the moment and I don't want to feel under too much pressure but by the same token I feel absolutely awful that i can't help to full capacity during the busiest time for hedgehog rescues
So sorry to all rescues, who I know are already full and struggling as I'm having to reduce my workload "at the moment" but I will help when I can
My team of volunteers and foster carers are working hard, we are health checking all next week and planning to release more healthy hedgehogs back to the wild ❤️
The house is nearly finished decorated through out a couple of more weeks and it should be finished ready for valuation
I can't thank Tony Maskell and Donna Maskell I call them my
"Maskell Miracle duo"
They've worked so hard, with support from some of our volunteers, willing to help them
To give me back my home ( to a point)
It's been a mammoth job I can't tell you how much I appreciate this love and hard work

Lastly THANKYOU ❤️ everyone for your love and messages and for your continued support for the hedgehogs in need at the rescue
Janette ❤️ my team and the hedgehogs

Just spent another hour, for the second time today, rehydrating, bathing,
Wounds, medicating and feeding this beautiful ❤️ very injured hedgehog
5 minutes after treatment he was out eating kitten biscuits which I'm absolutely over the moon to see ❤️
Clean snuggly bed and little hear source too to make sure this precious hedgehog is comfortable, warm, hydrated and has plenty of food choices plus fresh water
It's tough on the poorly ones they need injecting with fluids and meds to help them to feel better plus trying to feed them to
I'm sure they must feel so much better having care and treatment ❤️
