👨‍🍳🇲🇽 During our after-school Cultural Cooking Club, we are visiting different countries and learning about their traditions, culture, and cuisine.

In Week 3, we explored Mexico. We began by discussing what we already knew about Mexico and identified the different colours in the Mexican flag. As a group, we talked about any Mexican foods we had tried before and shared our experiences.

We then put on our chef's hats and got cooking! The children made tacos and nachos this week. Everyone used the equipment safely and worked together to create some delicious dishes. It was a fantastic session, and the children thoroughly enjoyed tasting their creations while learning about another culture.

Well done little chefs!

We are delighted that Cleaswell Hill School is currently participating in Fundraise and Recycle’s ‘School Connect Project’.
Fundraise and Recycle specialise in the recycling of unwanted clothing, bags, paired shoes and toys for collection and redistribution. Items can be donated at any time via the clothing bank situated at the pedestrian entrance to the Cleaswell Hill School main site. Please ensure that all donations are bagged.
Cleaswell Hill Foundation (registered charity number 1000697) will receive a cheque determined by the weight of the items donated during the ‘School Connect Project’. The more bags that we collect, the more money that we will raise for exciting, inclusive resources and experiences for the children at our school!
Thank you for your support!

🏊‍♀️🍩 Our week in Riverside class has been another very busy and exciting one! We began by visiting the beautiful horses at La Luna Farm, where students had a wonderful time learning about and interacting with the animals.

Later in the week, we attended our regular water skills sessions at Morpeth Pool. This week, the focus was on practicing floating techniques and learning how to protect your head if you were to fall into the water—an important safety skill.

To finish the week, we enjoyed a fantastic tour of the bread and doughnut-making facilities at Greggs. The students were fascinated to see how everything is made and to make the experience even sweeter, Greggs kindly treated everyone to a box of doughnuts!

In Week 2, we explored China. We began by discussing what we already knew about China and observed the Chinese flag, identifying the different colours it consists of. As a group, we talked about any Chinese foods we had tried before and shared our experiences.

We then put on our chef's hats and got cooking! The children made a Chinese banquet which included stir fry, vegetable spring rolls, egg fried rice, sweet and sour chicken and plain noodles. They also had curry sauce and prawn crackers to try. Everyone used the equipment safely and worked together to create some delicious dishes. It was a fantastic session, and the children thoroughly enjoyed tasting their creations while learning about Chinese culture.

We are hosting a non-uniform day on Friday 26 June 2026 at Cleaswell Hill School for all pupils. Rather than ask for a monetary donation, we would be extremely grateful if pupils could donate an item for a bottle stall, tombola or raffle to be utilised at our summer sports and fundraising event scheduled for Friday 10 July 2026. All proceeds from the event will be utilised towards exciting, inclusive resources and experiences for the pupils that attend Cleaswell Hill School. Thank you for your support!

🧗🏻‍♂️ One of the best trips yet! Their faces lit up when we walked into the bouldering centre. All the children listened well and were fully engaged throughout!

Some very fearless and confident climbers amongst Morpeth class. Staff at the bouldering centre commented on their brilliant behaviour.

Lots of the children hope to come back and climb again!

🌳World Environment Day🌲 at The Appleby Centre! Our students have been hard at work making a real difference to our outdoor spaces - and what a fantastic day it has been! Students have been busy planting: Hornbeam (x12) for a bird-friendly hedge; Chamomile to attract bees and butterflies; Lamb’s Ear for pollinators and sensory exploration.

We also reduced emissions by walking in the rain and using a wheelbarrow to collect donated plants - complete with one very happy passenger along the way!

A great day of teamwork, sustainability, and smiles!😁
