Chislehurst Creates is an annual community art event, raising funds for Chislehurst Commons.

New community arts and crafts day on the commons between School Road, Church Row & Watt's Lane, raising vital funds for the upkeep of Chislehurst Commons. Our first theme is 'The Magic of Nature' and the event will be held on Saturday 23rd September 2023, 1-5pm

Two weeks ago today, the Common came alive. 💜🎨🌳

Hundreds of children and their families came together to create, play, picnic and spend time together at Picnic on the Common.

And together, we raised an amazing £3,500 in support of Chislehurst Commons! 🎉

We’re incredibly proud of that, and it simply wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of our fantastic sponsors.

We’re so lucky to have local businesses and organisations who believe in what we’re creating and who choose to support their community.

What an amazing day we had yesterday! ❤️

The weather was kind to us, the Common was full of families, and more than 250 children got creative with us. 🎨🌳

But what made yesterday really special was the people.

We’ve been bowled over by the generosity of the Chislehurst community. More than 30 people gave up their time to make Chislehurst Creates Picnic happen. They ran stalls, baked cakes, put up gazebos, fetched tables and chairs, helped us set everything up and stayed to take it all down again at the end of the day.

To every single one of you, thank you. We genuinely couldn’t have done it without you. ❤️

A huge thank you too to our committee, Pia, Helen, Joanna, Jonathon, Madeline, Bob, Mary and Christine, who have spent the past year planning, organising, making and occasionally wondering how on earth we were going to get everything done!

And, of course, thank you to our wonderful sponsors, who believed in what we wanted to create and helped us make it happen.

Most of all, thank you to every family who came along. Seeing children proudly carrying home the things they had made, families sitting together on picnic blankets and the Common full of people enjoying a few hours together was exactly what Chislehurst Creates Picnic on the Common is all about.

We hope you went home with happy children, a bag full of creations and some lovely memories. ❤️

For now, we’re putting our feet up after a very busy year and feeling incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make Chislehurst Creates such a special day.

🫟ONLY TWO DAYS TO GO🫟

This Saturday, grab a picnic blanket, bring the family and come and spend a few hours with us on the common behind Royal Parade❤️

There’ll be traditional games to play, Punch & Judy to watch, a nature trail to explore, homemade cake to eat… and plenty of time just to sit together and enjoy the afternoon. 🌳

🎨 Crafty Corner: 6 crafts for £6 per child when you book online.
And they’ll have plenty to make and take home with them. ❤️

Everything else, Punch & Judy, traditional games and the nature trail is free to enjoy.

Crafty Corner tickets are £8 on the day, so book online before Saturday and save £2 per child.

Could you bake us a cake for the Chislehurst Creates Tea Tent?

Our Tea Tent is stocked almost entirely by lovely local people who bake something at home and donate it for the day. ❤️

So if you can spare a cake, traybake, brownies or a batch of cupcakes, we’d be incredibly grateful.

Homemade, slightly wonky, family favourite — we’ll happily take them all! 😄

Every slice sold helps raise money to care for Chislehurst Commons. 💚

Could you bake something for us?

🍰 Drop-off: Mary will be at The Old Fire Station, 1 Hawkwood Lane, Chislehurst, BR7 5PW, from 1.30–3pm on Friday.

Or bring your bake straight to the Tea Tent before 11.30am on Saturday.
