Chipping Sodbury Town Trust would like to express our thanks James Kendall for all his help during his time as Club Chairman and we look forward to working with Jamie Wakefield.

📢 Club Announcement 📢

As announced in November, Jim Kendell has taken the decision to stand down from his duties as Club Chairman in order to prioritise his health and accommodate increasing professional commitments. During his tenure, particularly through the challenging post-COVID period, Jim’s steady leadership and dedication have been instrumental in consolidating the club’s progress both on and off the field.

On behalf of the Club and all its members, we extend our sincere gratitude to Jim for his exceptional service, hard work, and unwavering support over the years. We’ll look forward to having Jim supporting from the sideline with a well earned drink in hand.

Following the club AGM meeting last Thursday, it has been decided and voted that Jamie ‘Wiggy’ Wakefield will take up the role as CSCC Chairman!

Wiggy - ‘It’s an absolute honour to be voted into the role of Chairman of this great Cricket Club. I’m excited to help us take the next step forward, on and off the field.

Over the coming months I plan to bring a structured, business-minded approach to how we run the club: clearer goals, strong planning, and communication throughout the club, so every volunteer hour and every pound we raise goes even further for our members.
Just as importantly, we’ll keep an open, welcoming culture where everyone’s voice matters and we can enjoy our time at the club on every visit

Call to action: we’ve got a big push ahead to get the club ready—both financially and physically. Please do get behind our fundraising efforts and if you can spare a bit of time, come along to our upcoming works parties to help prepare the ground and facilities for the season. Many hands really do make light work.

A massive Thank you to Jim for all his tireless efforts during his tenure, he’s really set platform to help us move forward on his visions of the club, as well moving the club forward to where it stands today, some great achievements over the years he can be very proud of

Let’s continue to build something sustainable, ambitious and inclusive together’.

The club wishes Jamie the very best and full support in his new appointment 🏏

The Preliminary Enquiry into the Village Green application concerning the Ridings took place on the 26th and 27th of January. Throughout the 2 days the primary focus for the Inspector, appointed by South Glos Council, was the relevance of the 1959 Charity Commission Scheme and the 1960 Act of Parliament which lay down the terms of use of the Ridings and govern its management. The Inspector has now gone away to prepare his report. Once this is received by South Glos Council they will make the final decision which could take up to 4 months. We will do our best to update everyone as soon as we hear the outcome. In the meantime the Trustees will continue to promote and maintain the Ridings to its usual high standard and ensure it continues to be accessible to all users who depend on the space.

Chipping Sodbury Town Trust would like to correct some of the misinformation and dispel some of the speculation arising from the Village Green Application currently being considered by South Glos Council.

There has been speculation about a planning application for the er****on of housing on the Ridings. The Trust has only ever considered this on part of the Stub Riding as a means of funding much needed improved facilities for the sports clubs. There is no planning application and no final decision has been made by the Trust to put forward such an application. In any case, the question of housing on the Ridings is totally irrelevant where the Village Green application is concerned. This was made clear to everyone involved by the Inspector appointed by South Glos Council at the Pre Enquiry Meeting. He is only concerned with the question of whether the relevant legislation applies to the Ridings.

The Trust has always acted in accordance with its duty to preserve the Ridings while providing sports, leisure and recreational facilities for the community in accordance with Charity Commission rules. The Trustees take their responsibilities seriously and are committed to continuing to provide and improve facilities on the Ridings in partnership with the sports clubs, other users
and event organisers such as Good Times.

The Millennium Garden has now been refurbished and thanks to generous donations from David Shipp and Sodbury Town Council is looking really good. The dead box hedge has been removed and a new planted and the seat has been repaired while the benches have all been repainted. Thank you to Richard and Pauline Wilson and Matt Whittle for all their hard work and Ann Blake of Sodbury in Bloom for all that weeding.
