Buddies Day Service supports adults with a Learning Disability, Chromosomal Deletion Syndromes, Autism/Asperger's, Mental Health Diagnosis, Sensory Impairment, ABI. We are Mark and Debbie, a husband-and-wife team who, jointly, have six wonderful children, four of whom have a learning disability and/or autism. Over the years, we have experienced numerous difficulties in finding suitable care and pr

ovision for their individual needs. Over the past 20 years, as they moved from child services to adult services, this became even more challenging. This is an ongoing issue for many parents and carers here in South Gloucestershire, Bristol, and the surrounding area, where there is a real need for quality and appropriate provision of adult day care, which we and many other parents and carers agree, is not presently being delivered. For this reason, we set up BUDDIES, an adult day service for people with a learning disability, autism, mental health diagnosis, sensory impairment, acquired brain injury, predominately aged 18 to 65. This is not a rigid framework, and we can include someone over 65 and or transitioning from age 16. We are located on Station Road in Yate, right next to Yate Train Station and on one of the main bus routes from Bristol or Gloucestershire so very accessible. We provide a fun and entertaining place to spend the day with friends, where everyone who attends can feel safe, supported, and enjoy activities, tailored to their own specific needs. The activities include arts and crafts, bingo, puzzles, group games, board games, dance, karaoke, music, Makaton sing & sign, quizzes, cookery and baking, going out for walks within the local community, going out for coffee/tea/drinks, days out in the wider community. We will also encourage our users to tell us what they want to do, if it is appropriate and within our ability to provide it, then we will do so. our place, our space. This is simply because we want our guys to feel just that, their place, and their space. We are open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 9:30am to 4:00pm and we are now taking registrations for Monday and Wednesday for our service here in Yate. We would be delighted to discuss your registration and talk you through the admissions process.

🌞 Buddies Day Out 🌞

Today we enjoyed a lovely day at Kingsgate Park. We had a picnic in the sunshine and spent time spotting some of the local wildlife, including ducks, swans and squirrels. 🦆🐿️

Afterwards, we headed into Yate for a mooch around the charity shops, browsing for bargains and enjoying being out and about in the community.

A relaxing day full of fresh air, friendship and fun! 😊💙

🌳🪵 A busy day for our Buddies! 🎶🚂

Some of our Buddies enjoyed a Forest Skills session, learning lots of new woodwork skills including sawing, whittling and using sandpaper to create smooth edges. They worked incredibly hard and just look at the fantastic results! 👏

The beautiful bird box they created will take pride of place in the Buddies garden, and we're hoping it will attract a feathered family looking for a new home. 🐦🏡

Meanwhile, other Buddies had a wonderful time at The Music Train, enjoying plenty of singing, dancing and catching up with friends. 🎤💃🕺

A great day of learning new skills, building confidence and having fun together! 😊💙

🐾 A lovely day at Buddies! 🐾

Some of our Buddies enjoyed a fantastic trip to Bristol Zoo Project today. Luckily, the weather stayed mostly dry, and we had a wonderful time exploring and seeing all the amazing animals. 🦒🐻🐒

Back at the centre, those who stayed behind got busy in the kitchen and enjoyed some baking, creating some delicious treats to share. 🍰🧁

A great day all round, with plenty of smiles, fun, and friendship! 😊💙

A busy and productive day at Buddies! 😊

Some of our group attended their final Health and Wellbeing session today and were proud to receive certificates for completing the course. Well done to everyone for their hard work and commitment throughout the programme! 🎉📜

Meanwhile, the rest of the group headed to the shops to buy ingredients before returning to Buddies to make delicious toasties and fresh salad for lunch. 🥪🥗

Today we say goodbye to a valued member of the Buddies team. While we're sad to see her leave, we are incredibly grateful for everything she has brought to Buddies during her time with us.

Her kindness, dedication, and support have made a real difference to our Buddies and staff team, and she will be greatly missed.

We wish her every success and happiness in her next adventure and thank her for being such an important part of the Buddies family. ❤️
