FOR INFO OF LOCAL RESIDENTS WHO USE CHURH LANE: Church Lane is now closed all this week between Church Farm (the crossroads near Steeple Barton church) and the school for Thames Water to lay a new mains pipe. There will no NO ACCESS to anyone along this section of Church Lane. You will have to use Kiddington Road/ South Street route to access any part of Church Lane that is between South street and the school.

There has been yet another house break-in overnight. The Old Forge on Worton Road at the junction of Farriers Road.

It was broken into between 5am and 8.30am today- Thursday 29/01/26. Entry was gained via a forced front window and then the front door was opened from the inside. Stolen items were multiple power tools that were removed via the front door which faces into Worton Road.

This would have needed several trips in and out of the house to a suspected nearby parked vehicle. They then left the village up the Worton Road towards Worton woods.

If anyone saw any people coming in and out of the Old Forge early this morning please post details here. The car or van would most likely have been parked directly outside the house or possibly just round the corner on Farriers Road.

If anyone has camera footage of this area please can you check it for any vehicles/people who may be involved.

Further to the last post in relation to local burglaries it has come to attention of Barton‘s Alert that several houses within the immediate local area have been broken into recently. Therefore, we urge each and every one of you to pay particular attention to any vehicles that you do not recognise, any people you do not know, and in particular anyone hanging around houses occupied by elderly people or houses that are currently unoccupied by their owners.

It is very unusual for the Bartons to be targeted for crime and although this is statistically an extremely safe place to live there is no harm in being overly observant or overly suspicious of anything that does not seem normal. However, do not engage directly with these people as they may well be violent. If you can obtain car details that would be fantastic, but do not put yourself at risk at any time.

Please also make yourself aware of anyone in your area who has doorbell cameras or CCTV and if you have them yourself then please make sure batteries are charged and lens are free of spiderwebs and other debris ! 
Please feel free to post any suspicious observations or vehicle details directly onto this group or onto the neighbourhood watch group WhatsApp.

Our strength is our communication within the community, so let’s use that to our full advantage.

BURGLARY REMINDER

For everyone who lives in and around Middle Barton and surrounding villages, please be aware of burglaries at this time of year.
Organised gangs target rural areas and especially empty homes. They are generally looking for cash, Jewellery and anything else that is easily taken. They generally work in groups of 2 or 3 people and will travel to an area by car.

These people are generally well organised and very determined. They usually have crowbars or hammers with them to force entry into a home. Avoid direct contact with these people and keep yourself safe at all times.

Please check your home security Whether it be floodlights CCTV cameras or barking dogs and make sure they are all working. Please also look out for neighbours houses especially if they are away on holiday.

If you see any suspicious vehicles or people please feel free to post them on this site. If you see a car the get the numberplate. Admin will look at the posts But they will not be any long delayed editing of posts as the information needs to be got out to everyone as fast as possible.

Remember, our security is in our communication and our ability to pass information via social media groups rapidly around the village to everyone.

Just been made aware of a male dressed in black by Alice Marshall Hall about 15mins ago. Appeared very drunk and was staggering into the road. Just for local awareness should anyone be driving through the village. 👍 Hope he”s ok.

This car has just had a handbag stolen from it when parked in Leafield near Witney. Police are currently in the area searching for suspects. If you are visiting Steeple Barton church or Middle Barton school please do not be stupid enough to leave any valuables on show. 
I’m at no apologies for the bluntness of this message as it should be common sense to any anyone over the age of 12 !!

If you come across any vehicle acting suspiciously around the village, please put the Numberplate and Car details on this site. Your comments will not be censored or binned without your knowledge like other sites.  the site is for the specific fast time sharing of information relating to any crimes or potential crimes within the Middle Barton area.
