Weighbridge Trust

Weighbridge Trust The Weighbridge Trust seeks to preserve one of the historic gateway buildings of Chippenham, by providing studio space to artists.

This page relates to the weighbridge building in Chippenham Wiltshire, formerly occupied by Bentley Model Railway Group (now moved to a small warehouse in Calne), and Chippenham Men's Shed, started by people associated with BMRG, to continue use of the building while limitations upon access were placed by Network Rail putting a bridge in the wrong place. 7 Years later, they agreed and moved the bridge, but it's a bit late now. The white rectangle in the cover photo is primarily undercoat, although Geoff floated an idea of "accidentally" turning it into a QR code by painting "tests patches", there wasn't really enough resolution available. Network Rail's agents have now pretended the nice parts of the frontage are an eyesore, and fenced them off, creating an eyesore. The flying buttress scaffolding replaces two screws securing guttering to one cladding panel, and is unnecessary. GWR want to wait for the building to fall down, so they can widen the access road, but the building is over 200 years old, and GWR will fall down sooner, as it's reabsorbed into GBR.

With great sadness we must report our founder and chair passed away a few days ago. Out of respect to his friends and loved ones we cannot release a name at this time. His vision for our little group is irreplaceable.

We are still around, looking after the building and plotting the future. We've noticed the minor damage and vandalism to part of the cladding, and we will touch that up, as soon as there's a few days of rainless weather.

A short intermission earlier, of delivering other people's post, as the postperson had dumped all the mail for the places he couldn't find, in our letterbox. It's just as well someone has a good knowledge of the locality.

Added some textured whitespace, to make circular clipping work properly.

One of the doors (which is only essentially an outside cupboard) was on the point of falling off (which can't happen!!). The hinges were repaired last night, and more will be done to strengthen & secure that door, as well as general smarting up, eg weeding.

About 1500GMT, Wednesday 14th December:
A litterpick and small amount of weeding. This is *supposed* to be GWR's responsibility now. Six months late, but there have been a lot of other things to do elsewhere.

An overdue note: The building is currently mothballed for the winter. We do intend to bring it back into use in 2017, but this is going slowly due to legal tedium and moving half of the admin office (again).
