Thank you Paul, Kenny and Sophie for the treats. The last two days have been quite brutal here, with today reaching 34 degrees! Tomorrow is looking the same!

Cumulative heat exposure affects appetite and hydration levels, so having nice treats that they are keen to eat, that are also healthy, is paramount right now!

Not sure the ferrets will be able to go back outside tonight as its 8.30pm and still reading 31 degrees, and although the sheds are in full shade, it is going to take time for the air to cool.

Time for a quick update. Today was a vet run day. Nibboles Cage (pictured) went in for castration and was already climbing the door by the time I went to pick him back up! He was a very good lad though and every one loves him, although his scent is somewhat overwhelming right now! We took the opportunity to microchip him at the same time. He just has his vaccination to have next week and then he's ready to go to his new home (already lined up).

I also took Hugo in for a consultation today. He's a 5 year old hybrid lad who really only eats meat and is quite fussy about which meats. But very recently he's been even fussier! Just to be on the safe side he went down for a quick check today to see if there was anything feeling stuck in his gut. No masses or lumps found, but his gut is a little quick at the moment, probably a mild irritation or inflammation which might be making him a little less enthusiastic about his food. He's got some preds and paste for a few days, but he has discovered that he really loves a bit of emeraid ! So he can have that iver the weekend to make sure he's getting nutritional support until everything settles and he resumes normal meat eating

We are not open to the general public. I have said this many times, but do not turn up to a rescue unannounced and expect the people to be available for you to see ferrets on a whim.

The rescue does not pay any wages, so I work full time to pay my bills as well.

We have recently removed our phone number from sites as we were getting 20-40 calls a day, especially during the holidays for people wanting to come and do a petting experience or wanting us to deliver ferrets all over the country.

This is a huge drain on my time and resources.

Due to my other commitments and own health I have had to reduce the number of ferrets in the rescue, especially as many of the ones we have now are complex management.

At the moment we are not taking any more ferrets in and I have very limited ferrets who are avaliable for adoption.

Rikku was a little happier tonight and allowed me to pick her up briefly... but I did notice someone has been sucking her neck and ear !
