We have Super Saturday coming up with our first ever Repair Cafe at the Cause 10am to 1pm, followed by a free screening of the People's Emergency Briefing at Hardenhuish School Peter Thompson Hall at 4pm!

Do you have something broken at home that you're not sure what to do with? Bring it along to one of our Repair Cafes this Saturday!

We're excited to be hosting our first Repair Cafe in Chippenham this weekend, in partnership with Zero Chippenham.

We'll be at:

✨ Southdown Methodist Church Centre, The Hollow, BA2 1NJ from 10am - 1pm
✨ The Scout Hall, High Street, High Littleton, BS39 6JD, from 10am - 1pm
✨ The Cause, 42 The Causeway, Chippenham SN15 3DD, from 10am - 1pm

No need to book but please arrive as early as possible to ensure that there is time to work on your repair. We have limited capacity and our volunteers will do their best to help - sometimes we get really busy and we don't want to have to turn you away!

We can do anything from sewing to electrical repairs - if you can carry it to the Repair Cafe, we'll do our best to fix it. Please bring along any replacement zips, buttons or spare parts to save time on the day.

Just over a week to our free community screening of the People's Emergency Briefing, for everyone age 16+..... read on if you are:

What’s happening with climate and nature, and what does it mean for everyday life in the UK?
Join us for a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing - an eye-opening 50-minute film bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence and why it matters for things like:
🌧️ Extreme weather
🍞 Food security
🏥 Health
💷 Cost of living
The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster (featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times) with appearances from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, and a range of voices from across the UK.
After the film there will be an open discussion about what it means for our community and what we can do next, and a chance to chat more over some refreshments.
Bring a friend, neighbour or family member: everyone is welcome (although please note the advisory age is 16+)
Our MP, Sarah Gibson, will be alongside constituents to watch and reflect.

Air Quality has been in the news a lot lately with wildfire pollution reaching Wiltshire from Wales, and the success of ULEZ restoring the lung capacity of children in London. We've been a little quiet publicly on our own air quality project, but that's not through lack of background work. Chippenham resident and Data Scientist Dr Jack Hunt joined our volunteer team to help analyse the data from the Wiltshire Community Air Network initiative from Wiltshire Council. We've summarised his work in this post. The headline news is over the study period Chippenham meets the UK Government limits for PM2.5 particulate pollution, but fails World Health Organisation recommended limits by some margin. This excludes the recent wildfires. Jack has automated much of the analysis and has even explored the potential to forecast air quality in Chippenham.

We've teamed up with Chippenham Big Bike Revival to offer FREE bike checks and minor repairs* at our Chippenham Repair Cafe launch, Saturday 5th September 10am to 1pm, at The Cause . We plan to have two cycle repair people on the day and will be in the courtyard inside The Cause. Sewing, front of house and cafe volunteers needed! Could it be you? Plans for our first joint Chippenham Repair Cafe launch on Saturday 5th September 10am-1pm with Share and Repair Bath are progressing well. However, though we have sewing repair volunteers, none are available on the 5th September. Can you help? Expected repairs are simple damage repairs, not alterations. We can provide a sewing machine if needed, though if you have your own that would be perfect. We also need some people who might be able to help with preparing drinks and serving or even making cakes. We have a kitchen at the Cause for teas and coffees. If you think you could help make our launch a success please fill out the volunteer form on our page. We'll be planning a get together meetup and briefing for volunteers soon. It's our first one so we'll all be learning together ably assisted by the fantastic Share and Repair team. So why not come and join us!
