Being a trustee works wonders on your CV, and it makes a huge difference to our Scout Group too! 🌟

We’re currently looking for new Trustees to join our team and help support the group behind the scenes. It’s a fantastic opportunity to build valuable skills, gain experience, meet new people, and help shape opportunities for young people in our community.

The role is very low-demand, with meetings on average once every 6 weeks, so it’s easy to fit around work and family life.

No scouting experience is needed, just enthusiasm and a willingness to help.

What an incredible time we had at our St George’s Day District Camp! 🏕️ 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

This weekend, our Cubs and Scouts joined groups from across the district for a huge camp at Auckland Castle 🏰

Our young people set off on a woodland adventure hunting for a boar 🐗🌲, explored the castle grounds in search of hidden landmarks 🗺️🔍, and threw themselves into classic activities like welly throwing and sack racing 🥾🏃‍♂️. They even got the chance to see some amazing birds of prey up close 🦅

We wrapped up Saturday in the best way possible - gathered around the campfire with songs, stories, and plenty of laughs 🔥

And of course… the highlight for many — pizza for tea! 🍕😄

On Sunday, we came together on the castle green to renew our promises, continuing a proud St George’s Day tradition 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

What an amazing weekend spent with over 200 members from groups in our district.

Tonight we had the pleasure of welcoming another guest to 1st Chilton, as we welcomed Chilton’s county councillor, Stephen Bowron
and what a busy, action-packed evening it was!

Our Cubs and Beavers kicked things off by getting hands-on with some exciting science experiments. From paper volcanoes to the classic Coke & Mentos reaction, and even the showstopper—imploding a can using nothing but hot and cold air—there was plenty of curiosity and creativity on display.

Meanwhile, our Scouts marked County Durham Day by crafting their own County Durham–themed woggles—what a challenge it was.

And we even managed to squeeze in an investing ceremony. we proudly invested 15 members into new sections.

A it was an evening at 1st Chilton!

We’re looking for our next intake of Beavers to join the fun at 1st Chilton! 🦫 Looking for something new for your little one to try? Ages 5 3/4 and 7

Beavers spend their time making friends, getting creative, exploring outdoors, learning new skills, earning badges and having lots of fun every week. 🌟

It’s a great way to build confidence, try new things and be part of a friendly, supportive group.

We Also have Cubs & Scouts slots available for 7-14 year olds.

Here at 1st Chilton, we’re proud to be part of this worldwide family of Scouting and grateful for our amazing young people, and volunteers who make Scouting so special every week.
