A busy night at Cubs & Scouts! ⚜️

Our Cubs took on an escape room-style challenge, solving puzzles and cracking codes while learning some of the fundamentals of Scouting along the way. They then got creative designing recruitment posters to help spread the word about our group! 🎨

Our Scouts also tackled the escape room challenge before taking on a series of team challenges, competing to see which team could:

🧩 Solve a jigsaw the quickest
🎒 Stuff a sleeping bag — harder than it looks!
⛺ Pitch a small tent the fastest

They also took part in a Kahoot quiz, putting their Scouting knowledge to the test. We were really impressed with how well they all did! 👏

A night full of teamwork, problem-solving, creativity and Scouting skills — with a little healthy competition thrown in!

Today, we’re proud to support Merchant Navy Day and recognise the people who have served, and continue to serve, at sea.

Yesterday, we joined Chilton Town Council to mark the occasion, where one of our Cubs had the honour of raising the Red Ensign — the flag of the Merchant Navy. 🇬🇧⚓

There’s a special connection between the Merchant Navy and Scouting, too.

In 1928, the Deep Sea Scout Branch was established as a birthday present for Baden-Powell. It allowed Scouts working aboard ships, including those serving in the Merchant Navy, to continue their Scouting while at sea — keeping the Scout spirit alive wherever their journeys took them. 🌊⚜️

Nearly 100 years later, we’re proud to continue that connection and to be part of our local community’s Merchant Navy Day commemorations.

Once a Scout, always a Scout — wherever you are in the world. ⚜️

Beavers is for young people aged 5¾ to 7½ and is all about fun, friendship and trying new things! From games and adventures to creative activities and learning new skills, there’s something different to discover every week.

Our Beavers meet for just one hour each week — a great way for young people to make friends, build confidence and have fun. 🌳

🎤 Tonight we once again had the pleasure of welcoming Sue Reece to one of our Scout sessions.

📰 As part of working towards their Media Relations & Marketing Badge, our Scouts took on the role of reporters and interviewed the Mayor of Chilton with a range of thoughtful (and sometimes surprising! 🤔) questions.

👀 Keep an eye on our page over the coming days to see what our Scouts asked and hear Sue’s answers!

⭐ It was another fantastic evening at 1st Chilton Scout Group, although a few of our Scouts were a little disappointed that Sue didn’t arrive in a Rolls-Royce or a limousine! 🤣

(We even put Sue’s table tennis refereeing skills to the test)

Being a trustee works wonders on your CV, and it makes a huge difference to our Scout Group too! 🌟

We’re currently looking for new Trustees to join our team and help support the group behind the scenes. It’s a fantastic opportunity to build valuable skills, gain experience, meet new people, and help shape opportunities for young people in our community.

The role is very low-demand, with meetings on average once every 6 weeks, so it’s easy to fit around work and family life.

No scouting experience is needed, just enthusiasm and a willingness to help.

What an incredible time we had at our St George’s Day District Camp! 🏕️ 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

This weekend, our Cubs and Scouts joined groups from across the district for a huge camp at Auckland Castle 🏰

Our young people set off on a woodland adventure hunting for a boar 🐗🌲, explored the castle grounds in search of hidden landmarks 🗺️🔍, and threw themselves into classic activities like welly throwing and sack racing 🥾🏃‍♂️. They even got the chance to see some amazing birds of prey up close 🦅

We wrapped up Saturday in the best way possible - gathered around the campfire with songs, stories, and plenty of laughs 🔥

And of course… the highlight for many — pizza for tea! 🍕😄

On Sunday, we came together on the castle green to renew our promises, continuing a proud St George’s Day tradition 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

What an amazing weekend spent with over 200 members from groups in our district.
