Chundikuli Girls' College OGA (UK) was honoured to participate in the Festival of Netball (FON), a tournament held in memory of Jenny Green, whose contribution to introducing and developing netball in Sri Lanka has inspired generations of women and girls.
This year marked a special milestone for us, as it was the very first sporting event that CGC OGA (UK) has taken part in. The opportunity aligned perfectly with our ethos of promoting sisterhood, friendship, empowerment, and the celebration of women.
What an incredible day it was! Filled with laughter, teamwork, encouragement, and unforgettable memories, the tournament brought together women from different backgrounds through a shared love of sport and community.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the FON Committee for inviting CGC OGA (UK) to participate. We were especially proud to be the only school from the North represented at this year's tournament.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to SPA Ceylon, our sole sponsor for this event. Their generous support made this event possible, and we are truly grateful. Thank you for being part of this memorable journey with us.
A huge round of applause goes to our amazing team. With only a short time to prepare, they gave their absolute best. Some players returned to the court after decades, some experienced competitive netball for the very first time, but every single one of them embraced the challenge with enthusiasm, commitment, and a wonderful team spirit.
The day was a powerful reminder that sport is about so much more than winning. It is about building friendships, creating lasting memories, supporting one another, showing respect, and strengthening communities. These are values that sit at the very heart of CGC OGA (UK).
A heartfelt thank you also goes to our members and supporters who cheered us on, whether they were present on the day or encouraging us from afar. Your support means the world to us.
Perhaps the greatest achievement of the day was seeing our team and members enjoy the journey together. The smiles, laughter, camaraderie, and sense of belonging were the real victories.
Here's to many more opportunities to come together, support one another, and continue building a strong and vibrant CGC sisterhood through sport and friendship.
