Our Story

The Supercar Event is a one-day supercar extravaganza, raising money for The Children’s Trust, the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury.

The event itself is run by The Children’s Trust and delivered thanks to a team of dedicated volunteers who give up their time, tyres and petrol in the pursuit of giving all the children and families The Children’s Trust supports the opportunity to live the best lives possible.

They’re a pretty dedicated bunch, the event volunteers. In fact, they’re just as committed to making sure everyone who attends the event has a fantastic time.

2019 will be the first year The Supercar Event is hosted at Goodwood – home to some of the country’s leading automotive and motorsport events.

For more than a decade The Supercar Event Committee (a group of volunteers who help to organise the event on behalf of The Children’s Trust) has worked tirelessly on the charity’s biggest fundraising event.

Richard Davis, volunteer and Committee member, explains more…

“In 2006 a friend told me the devastating news that his daughter, Becky, had been rushed into hospital and was in a coma. She had contracted an infection that would affect her brain function.

“Fortunately, Becky did regain consciousness and was transferred to The Children’s Trust where her rehabilitation started.

“The dedicated staff taught her to walk, talk and feed herself again. Skills that had been lost during the time she’d spent in the coma, and as a result of the many seizures she’d endured.

“At the time, I was a member of a Ferrari forum called Club Scuderia. When I heard the great news of Becky’s partial recovery, we decided to offer children rides in our cars.

“It was such a success, we wondered if members of the public would pay for a ride in our cars to help raise funds for the charity…

“By 2009, The Children’s Trust secured the Top Gear track at Dunsfold and The Supercar Event was born.

“The event now attracts around 16,000 visitors every year – not bad from the humble £1,500 we raised in 2007.”

To date, The Supercar Event has raised £622,212 to support the work of The Children’s Trust. Not bad at all Richard!

Today, The Supercar Event has made its home at Goodwood – ‘England’s greatest sporting estate’ – and 1 June 2019 will see the event’s first outing at the venue which is also home to the likes of the Festival of Speed and the Goodwood Revival.
