🔥 Gas cooking burners/stoves and gas BBQs may still be used for cooking.

If using gas cooking equipment, please ensure:
• It is positioned safely, well away from dry grass and vegetation
• It is supervised at all times
• Plenty of water is immediately available
• A suitable fire extinguisher is available and close to hand

Please take extra care during the current dry conditions and help us keep Spitewinter, our visitors and wildlife safe. 🌿

We will continue to review conditions and update groups when restrictions can be lifted.

📢 Keeping our sites safe during the dry conditions

In line with current Government guidance, and to help protect our extensive natural landscapes and wildlife, we are now operating a complete fire ban across all Scout Adventures sites.

This applies to ground fires, altar fires, BBQs and any other form of ignition.

We’ll continue to monitor conditions and review these restrictions over the coming weeks.

Please speak to the site team on arrival if you need further advise or assistance with these measures.

🐦 More than just a campsite…

Today we took a moment to slow down and see what wildlife calls Spitewinter home.

Using a bird identification app, we spotted a fantastic variety of woodland birds, including a possible Spotted Flycatcher alongside Goldfinches, Robins, Blue T**s, Nuthatches, Treecreepers and more. 🌿

It’s a lovely reminder that Spitewinter isn’t just a place for camping, adventure and Skills for Life - it’s also a haven for nature.

Whether you’re building dens, tackling activities, or simply enjoying the peace and quiet, there’s always something special to discover if you take the time to look.

We can’t wait to share this amazing environment with even more young people over the coming months. 💚

🔥 Temporary Fire Restriction at Spitewinter Campsite 🔥

Due to the prolonged dry weather and the increased risk of fire, we have made the decision to temporarily ban all open fires on site with immediate effect.

While we appreciate that campfires are part of the camping experience, protecting our visitors, volunteers, neighbouring land and the campsite must come first.

Please take a moment to read the attached notice before your visit.

We’ll continue to monitor conditions and will let everyone know as soon as it is safe to lift the restriction.
