IT’S HALLOWEEN WEEK! 👻🎃

We are SO excited for everything spooky that we have planned this week at the centre! 🧡🕷️

Today, our lovely Sharron hosted Halloween Hangman, which went down a treat with everyone! 🎃📝 There were lots of guesses, plenty of fun and some great teamwork! 🧡

Also….

OUR GIFT SHOP IS BACK! 🎁

For anyone who may not know, every couple of months we open our very own gift shop, and it’s always a BIG hit! 🛍️💚

Here at Edmund street, we love encouraging independence, confidence and getting involved. Whether our service users are joining in activities, hosting them, helping others or simply doing things independently, they have the opportunity to earn points along the way! ⭐

These points are saved up and tallied over time, ready to spend on some lovely treats and prizes when our gift shop opens! 🎉

With Halloween week finally here, we have brought it back for FIVE DAYS of shopping fun! 👻🎃

Today, we had some lovely prizes won, including sunglasses 🕶️, word searches 🔎, pens and pencils ✏️, fidget games 🌀 and, of course, some tasty sweets! 🍬🍫

We will have the gift shop back open tomorrow for more of our service users to come along, browse the goodies and spend their hard-earned points! 🛍️💚

We can’t wait to share more of our Halloween week with you all, so keep your eyes peeled for tomorrow’s update! 👀🧡

Happy Halloween week, everyone! 🎃👻🕸️

A Relaxed Friday at the centre! 👻🎃

After such a busy week, we took a slightly more relaxed approach whilst still having plenty of fun! 🧡

We started our morning with Carl’s Dance Fitness 💃 before enjoying some more chilled activities this afternoon with a good old game of hangman! ✏️

🏆 A big congratulations to our colouring competition winners! 🏆 We had some great winners from both our staff and service users, and here’s a lovely picture of Jonny, who proudly achieved 3rd place! 🥉🎨 So well done ❤️

🎃 Our Halloween preparations are well underway too, with the doors to each room starting to get decorated ready for our trick-or-treating fun next week! We’ve also been getting creative with some Halloween water painting pictures, which everyone really enjoyed 🖌️🕷️

And trust us when we say… we have LOTS and LOTS coming up for Halloween week! 👀🦇 From spooky activities and trick-or-treating to finishing the week off with our very own Halloween disco! 🪩👻 We can’t wait to share all the fun with you!

🧡 A little reminder: As previously mentioned, Halloween costumes are encouraged next week but are absolutely NOT compulsory. We want everyone to feel comfortable, included and ready to enjoy the fun in whatever way suits them best! 🎃

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! Thank you for another lovely week full of smiles and laughter 🥰

We’ll see you all on Monday for a SPOOKTACULAR week! 👻🧡

🐰🦎 WHAT A FAB DAY AT THE CENTRE 🐍💚

Today we had a very special visit from the Mini Mobile Zoo and what an incredible experience it was! 🥰 For many of us, this was something completely new, and it’s safe to say it was a HUGE hit with everyone! 🎉

The lovely lady brought along some absolutely beautiful little creatures for us to meet, including a fluffy rabbit 🐰, the cutest little guinea pig 🐹, a slithery snake 🐍 and TWO amazing bearded dragons 🦎🦎!

All the service users who wanted to get involved absolutely loved the experience, and the staff enjoyed it just as much! ❤️ It was such a lovely opportunity to get up close to these wonderful animals, learn some new facts and make some special memories together!!✨

And the exciting news is… WE’VE BOOKED THEM AGAIN FOR TWO WEEKS’ TIME! 🤩🙌 We can’t wait to welcome them back and see what other amazing creatures we get to meet next! 🐾💚

Please enjoy all these photos as much as we enjoyed watching everyone interact 🥹❤️

See you all tomorrow!

🐾❤️

🎃🍂 PUMPKINS, CRAFTS & AUTUMN FUN! 🍂🎃

What a fun-filled day we’ve had at the centre🧡👻

Today, we got stuck into some pumpkin carving, scooping out all those pumpkin guts (messy hands were definitely involved! 😂🎃)

Not letting any of it go to waste! We put our pumpkins to good use by making a delicious batch of homemade pumpkin soup and roasting our very own pumpkin seeds! 🍲😋

Meanwhile, our lovely Jo has been working her crafting magic! 🥰🍁 This morning, she was busy in Room Two, before bringing the creativity over to Room One this afternoon. Everyone had the chance to get creative and make some beautiful autumn-inspired hedgehogs 🦔 and trees 🌳 — which look fantastic!!

It’s been a day full of creativity, autumnal activities and plenty of smiles all around! 🍂🧡 We’re loving getting into the spirit of the season here at Edmund Street! 🎃

🕰️ The clocks go back this Sunday — but for someone living with dementia, the change can bring more than an extra hour in bed.

Earlier darkness and changes to familiar timings can leave some people feeling unsettled. Our latest blog looks at practical ways families can help, and how regular day care can provide reassuring routines, companionship and meaningful activities.

At Edmund Street Activity Centre in Chesterfield, we offer a warm welcome and a familiar structure to the day, while giving family carers time for themselves. 💚

🎃 A LITTLE REMINDER FOR NEXT WEEK! 🎃

We’ll be cooking up a lovely batch of homemade pumpkin soup! 🥣🍂 If any of our service users would like to take some home to enjoy themselves or share with parents and carers, please remember to bring along a mug or container with a lid, and we’ll happily fill it up for you to take home! 😋🧡

A little bit of everything at the centre today! 💛

We’ve had a lovely day filled with a mixture of activities! 🥰

A few of our service users got busy making some delicious flapjacks 🥞, whilst others enjoyed a little stroll down to Greggs on the Moor for a well-deserved cuppa! ☕️🚶‍♀️

This afternoon, we had a bit more of a relaxed one with some TV games and group quizzes for all to enjoy! ☺️ 🧠

A lovely day all round! ✨

We hope everyone has had a wonderful Wednesday! 🫶🏼

TWO DAYS OF BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS AT EDMUND STREET! 🥳💖

We’ve had double the birthday fun over the last two days at the centre! 🥰🎈

Yesterday, we celebrated our lovely Carol, who turned 65! 🎂💐

And today, it was time to celebrate Kirsty, who turns a very special 46 tomorrow! 🥳

There have been lots of smiles, birthday treats and definitely plenty of birthday wishes all around! 💕✨

We hope you both have the loveliest birthday celebrations, make some wonderful memories and get thoroughly spoiled — as you both deserve it! 🫶🎉

Lots of love from everyone at Edmund Street! ❤️🎂

Happy Friday everyone! 🍂🎃

We’ve had another lovely day at the centre to round off the week! 💛

Today, we welcomed RISE who came in to help everyone show off their sporting skills and have a go at netball, but most importantly, to just have lots of fun! 🏅👏

Our teams today were the Bluebirds and the Red Devils, and even though it was a very close call, the bluebirds took the winning spot with 59, just one point over than the red Devils who scored 58!! Well done all! 🏆

We’ve also been snapping some more lovely pictures of our service users as we get into the autumn spirit, with Halloween and Harvest just around the corner! 👻🍁🧡 There’s lots to look forward to, and we can’t wait to share all the fun, festivities and smiles with you!

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend! 🥰✨
