Living with a long-term health condition can be unpredictable.

So for summer, join We Are Undefeatable in encouraging people and communities to to find and celebrate the small, unexpectedly joyful moments of movement:

🌷Build strength carrying a watering can while tending plants.
🍃 Boost step count without even thinking about it by mowing the lawn.
🍽️Turn doing the dishes into a dance party listening to music.

Take a watch of these short videos and have a go with someone who could benefit: https://weareundefeatable.co.uk/ways-to-move/workouts/

What if getting active didn’t feel like one more demand?

For many women, life is already full, full of responsibilities, expectations and competing priorities.

Being more active can sometimes feel out of reach, or simply not designed with them in mind.

But moving more does not have to mean gym memberships or rigid routines. It can be gentle, flexible and joyful, while still boosting energy, lifting mood, building confidence and even improving sleep.

We need to ask whether the opportunities for physical activity truly fit women’s lives.

❓Do the spaces feel comfortable?
❓Do the timings work?
❓Are the environments inclusive and culturally aware?

The has developed guidance to help us better understand the realities of South Asian and Muslim women’s lives, and to challenge us to rethink how we design activities, spaces and opportunities.

Because if we want more women to move, we have to meet them where they are, not by asking them to fit into existing systems, but by shaping those systems around them.

Students from six special schools across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire recently took part in the Believe. Move. Achieve. event - and we're now able to share a new film showcasing the event.

The event was organised in partnership with the University of Nottingham and held at David Ross Sports Village.

Shaped by youth voice, it gave young people the chance to take part in a range of activities including boccia, sitting volleyball, archery and the climbing wall, and hear an inspirational speech from 2012 Paralympic medallist Mel Clarke.

We had a great day and it was lovely to see so many smiling faces!

It’s been wonderful to bring Derby and Nottingham’s schools together again today for the Girls Active Celebration Day.

Co-designed by the Girls Active Leaders, the day started with an inspirational speech from the amazing Sunshine Sam. More than 200 young people then took part in a choice of a wide range of activities including skateboarding, cheerleading, Kinball, street dance, indoor cycling, tennis, basketball and Drumba.

Active Notts and Active Derbyshire work in partnership with the Youth Sport Trust to deliver Girls Active at Djanogly City Academy, Park Vale Academy, Oakwood Academy, Nottingham Academy, Redhill Academy, Farnborough Academy and Bemrose School. Each school is supported by an ambassador.

The programme recognises the challenges girls experience to participation, and supports schools and empowers girls to make the necessary changes to PE and sport and physical activity provision to remove barriers and develop a relevant and vibrant offer to engage all girls, not just the sporty few.

The Girls Active Leaders have been working hard in their schools to support, influence and encourage their peers to be more active, and today was about celebrating their achievements so far and inspiring more girls to take part and try something new.

Today is a reminder that looking after our planet and looking after ourselves can go hand in hand.

It's also a chance to celebrate how nature inspires us to move more and live healthier lives. Whether it’s a walk in your local park, cycling to work, or simply spending more time outdoors. Finding an activity that works for you doesn’t just support your health, it supports the environment too.
