Celebrating National Volunteering Week! ✨
This week is all about the incredible power of giving back — and the people who make a difference every single day. 💚
Volunteering isn’t just about helping others — it’s about building stronger communities, creating connections, and making a real impact where it matters most.
We want to thank everyone who has volunteered their time to help spruce up our head office, added us as a charity of choice, volunteered time to complete a challenge for us, shared our posts online. Every bit of volunteering however that looks helps to build our community and ultimately support our clients who have survived domestic abuse. THANK YOU!

This week is national volunteer week. We are exploring how we can build a volunteer network. It's early days, so watch this space! In the meantime, what things might you consider volunteering for? Would you get a bingo line or a full house? We'd love to hear what things you might volunteer for to support us!

Following our work with The Queens Reading room, we are thrilled to confirm that our first Book Club has begun. Research has highlighted the restorative power of reading following trauma and we are thrilled to be able to offer our new book club to clients past and present.

Maybe you have been considering taking on a challenge? If so contact us at [email protected] to find out more. As we continue with Mental Health Awareness Week, we wanted to share these wise words from a survivor we supported. "Grow through what you go through". Such a poignant phrase that highlights how many of our clients process and recover from domestic abuse. Truly inspiring.

Mental Health Awareness Week starts on Monday. Whether its a walk, getting a face mask or eating a nutritious meal, acts of self-care are an important part of recovery from domestic abuse. It's something we actively support our clients and service users to participate in. We recently started a book club which is a great tool for self care. How will you be practising self-care for your mental health this week?

We are fundraising to renovate our refuge gardens. You can see they look a little sad at the moment, but we've worked some AI magic to show you what they could look like! Are you able to help us raise funds to make our Refuge gardens a place of welcome sanctuary for the families who flea domestic abuse and stay with us? You can support our appeal here: https://theelmfoundation.enthuse.com/cf/refuge-garden-renovation-appeal
