The Beeches woody rescue Here to help hatchlings, fledglings, squabs, juveniles & adults, rehabilitation to release

She means no harm, she quietly exists, she hides in between the bridge snuggling up to her partner

On the riverside bank she stretches, her beautiful colours hitting the sun...

However people just walk by, don't even notice her, she blurs into the background, often nearly kicked, stepped on, frowned upon 😥

She lives in a world divided into two:

❤️ People like you who advocate for our pigeon friends, love them, see them as loyal heroes.

💔 And people who see them as pests, dirty and an inconvenience.

How do we get the other world on our side?

Here at RR we explore the world around us and those who coexist with us: often the underdogs. Our exploration is all about education and awareness.

Giving the underdogs, the 'unloved' a voice.

I know in the comments we'll get incredibly supportive comments, but they'll always be a few who spoil it.

We can't change everyone's opinions, but we can inspire many.

It's this inspiration we hold onto dearly.

We are more than a rescue.

We are a community advocating for all birds, the wild world and are supporting many conservation efforts.

Here's to the underdogs.

Keep being their voice!

Thank you,
Helen, Tristan & Russell xx

⚠️Important information⚠️

As we're now into breeding season, we are seeing posts everyday about people's cat's taking home baby birds.

Alot are then just putting the bird back outside and hoping it's parents go back to it.
Even if it's parents return, that bird still needs to go into rescue.
Even without a visible scratch or bite, one drop of cat saliva causes sepsis in birds if not treated immediately with antibiotics.
If a cat has had any contact with a bird, the bird needs antibiotics.

Please always get help for a bird that's been 'catted', and please always make sure the rescue knows that a cat has been involved, otherwise they won't receive the correct treatment.

If you find a baby bird, please stay with it to protect it from predators, and call/text wildlife rescues for advice on what to do and whether to intervene.
Fledgling songbirds often need leaving alone, whereas young pigeons would need picking up.
If the baby has little to no feathering/eyes still sealed, it will need rescuing.

If the bird has been attacked by a cat, you need to get the bird safe in a box with a gentle heat source, such as a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel or blanket. Keep it dark and quiet to reduce stress, and find a wildlife rescue to help.
Never ever offer food or water, and never put water into a birds mouth as it causes them to aspirate and either die instantly, or slowly suffocate.

We also get alot of calls about fledglings in peoples garden, but they have cats or dogs.

Prevention is the best method. Keep your cat inside for a couple of days while the fledglings find their wings. Maybe block off abit of garden or take your dog out on a lead. It's only a few days.
That gives baby birds the best chance at life, and they have just as much of a right to be here as people, cats and dogs do. 💕

I AM NOT LOST.
I AM EXACTLY WHERE I'M SUPPOSED TO BE.

I'm a robin fledgling, and I can't fly yet.
That's normal.

Three days ago, I jumped out of the nest.
I weigh twice what I did at hatching.
My nest couldn't hold me anymore.

SO I JUMPED.

That's what robins do.
We leave the nest BEFORE we can fly well.
We spend 2 weeks on the ground, learning.

My parents know where I am.
They're watching from that tree.
They bring me food every 20 minutes.
They scream at cats, dogs, and you.

What you see: A helpless baby alone on the ground
What's actually happening: Fledgling Flight School, Day 3

I can hop. I can flutter. I'm getting there.
In 10 days, I'll be flying.
In a month, I'll be independent.

Right now, I'm supposed to look helpless.
It's how I learn.

Please don't pick me up.
Please don't put me in a box.
Please don't drive me to a "rescue."

My classroom is your backyard.
And class is in session.

I’m a Wood Pigeon. I’m clever enough to recognise myself in a mirror, but I’m still vulnerable to the cold February weather. 🌧️

I know I’m not always the "guest of honor"—many people prefer the colourful songbirds—but I’m out here struggling through the same long, freezing February nights. I’ll gladly hoover up the scraps other birds drop. I'm a big bird and eat a lot, but a seat at the table (or my own ground feeder) would be nice.

Wildlife recovery isn’t about picking favourites. A life is a life, whether it’s a tiny Blue Tit or a big, clumsy pigeon. Let’s help them all.

We call them pests.
But they are loyal, gentle, and misunderstood.

Pigeons mate for life.
They build, they care, they coexist — quietly.

Maybe the problem was never them.
Maybe it’s how we choose to see them.

🕊️ Stop pigeon hate.
❤️ Choose compassion.

please care for these beautiful souls 🥰

The world doesn’t revolve around you, it belongs to all of us. Learn to share it, learn to coexist.
Our job as humans is to care for it, protect it, and make it better for every living soul. ❤️
