Well, that's a wrap for another year

The weather was kind, our members worked their socks off, and there were smiles all around. There were moments when we were flagging, and we can't deny it was hard work, but seeing the visitors' reactions to our exhibits, watching people discover a little oasis to relax in, and sharing the experience together made every minute worthwhile.

We've worked as a team to create something truly special, and it's a memory that will stay in our hearts for a long time to come.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped in any way, whether big or small. Your time, energy, and enthusiasm made it all possible.

We'd also like to extend our sincere thanks to the Royal Cheshire County Show committee, staff, and volunteers for their continued support and encouragement.

More photos will come soon.

Great Big Green Week - Bramhall Village WI in community with the Bramhall Green Network events.

A lovely community action morning at Happy Valley, Bramhall A great group of volunteers met at the ponds and spent several hours clearing a patch of young Himalayan Balsam plants. (An invasive species)

Wonderful to have a group of WI members joining the group. Thank you for your time. Also thanks to the CoOp community team for providing all the refreshments.

Members also joined a local bio blitz, sewing workshop, treasure hunt in Bramhall park, and repair cafe . All events coordinated by members (including WI) of the Bramhall Green Network.

Walking Netball

As we hold our weekly sessions at New Mills Leisure Centre our team received an invite to the Peak District WN tournament. This was held on June 6th at Chapel-en-le Frith Leisure Centre.

Our valiant team won a match, drew on another and although lost a few other matches managed not to come last in a round robin with 5 other teams. The most important thing is we all enjoyed participating.

Woodford WI have a bright green dot after their innovative Green Dot event this month.

They had a coffee and cakes event where members dressed in outfits bought second hand or clothes that had been passed on. A swap rail was also available. They held a fashion show with winners for most stylish outfit and the one that cost the least.

Their raffle was filled with green prizes and they had a guess the weight competition for a fabulous cake made by their President. It weighed exactly 5 pounds.

Last Friday, 94 WI members enjoyed a fantastic day out to Jodrell Bank, organised by the Public Affairs Team. Blessed with glorious sunshine, we explored one of the world's leading centres for astronomy and space science, home to the iconic Lovell Telescope.

From fascinating exhibitions to learning about the wonders of the universe, there was something to capture everyone's imagination. It was a wonderful opportunity to spend time together, discover something new, and enjoy the beautiful weather in a truly unique setting.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the day such a success.

Hough and District WI have been busy with various activities this month for our Green Dot- including a very interesting talk from Sue Bentley MBE on mitigating and surviving climate change.

The ladies have been sheep shearing and the wool distributed as mulch on several allotments.

At our June meeting we held a very successful green raffle and members wore pre-loved, recycled or up cycled clothing and accessories.

In this month’s copy of the WI magazine, there is a write-up about Helen Rounds’ brilliant range of products which support green living and are made in Cornwall. During our recent holiday to Cornwall, Helen and her staff kindly showed us the production room and talked us through the process from design to product.

Kind regards, Gill Arnold - Heaton Mess WI

Thank you for this Gill.
