Bringing the community together with the power of good food!

On the 9th of September, our lovely Community Champions, Sushma Solanki and Vivien Storey, are hosting Community Cookery Event at Padiham Town Hall, and everyone is welcome.

The event will combine teaching people practical cooking skills with a shared commitment to reducing food waste. It's a great opportunity to come together in the community and learn a new skill.

Events like these help strengthen our neighbourhoods while promoting healthy eating and sustainability!

Wishing the best of luck to Sushma and Vivien with the day.

We're delighted to enter a partnership with Octopus Energy who will support the delivery of two exciting Green Aspirations Days this autumn!

By working together, young people will have the opportunity to explore green careers, discover new pathways into employment, and learn more about the growing sustainability sector.

These events will weave together schools, employers and community partners all in one place, to inspire the next generation and help them understand the important role they can play in creating a greener future.

We're pleased to share the Octopus Energy team will also be actively involved in the days, sharing their expertise and helping young people gain real insight into careers within the green economy.

Sai Cham, Early Careers Talent Partner at Octopus Energy said, “Young people deserve every opportunity that is available to them, particularly when it comes to working in green energy. So we’re very happy to be working with NCRC to help us reach our goal of reaching 1 million young people by 2028.”

We're excited to help create new opportunities and strengthen the threads that connect young people to brighter futures.

Looking back to our Tenants' Voice event last month, we caught up with Tim Morton on the day, to hear his thoughts on the event and its importance to the project.

Like us, Tim was impressed with the amount of insight that the tenants attending provided and loved the number of technical questions that were asked. These questions will be hugely beneficial to shaping the Tenants' Voice digital platform, and the next steps we take.

Listen to what Tim had to say below...

Are you an organisation interested in inspiring the next generation? 🤔

As we prepare for our upcoming Green Aspirations Days in Autumn, we're looking for volunteer organisations and professionals to join us for careers conversations with young people from across the region.

Early conversations can have a lasting impact... By sharing your experiences, career journey and guidance, you'll help young people discover opportunities they may never have considered before.

Whether you work in sustainability, renewables, construction, or another sector supporting a greener future, we'd love to hear from you!

Another fantastic day of discussions, feedback and brainstorming for The Tenants' Voice project on Monday!

On Monday, we opened the doors at Trafford Hall to our lovely contributors that took part in our residential, helping us with the research for this project.

We'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone who was involved, it was brilliant to welcome both familiar and new faces to our home to work together.

Everyone was happy to get involved and shared their own, personal experiences as a tenant. These experiences and insights will really help us in shaping the early development of the tool. The insight gathered from both this event and our previous one down in London at The London School of Economics and Political Science - LSE will give our partner Oscar Craven Ltd. lots to think about!

Also, a big thank you to our partners from LSE and Regenda Homes for joining and supporting us.

If you couldn't make it to either of our events, there is still time to share your thoughts by filling in this survey before the 31st of July: https://bit.ly/4vTqhST

Another fantastic day at Trafford Hall last week, as we hosted our third Green Aspiration Day funded by The Westminster Foundation, which have all been a huge success!

These events are organised to inspire school children from a young age to start thinking about their futures, through an array of engaging, collaborative activities.

The event gives children an opportunity to have conversations with professionals from different industries, giving them an idea of the different jobs they can do when they grow up.

A special thank you to all our volunteers who attended. It would not be possible without you!

The school year is coming to an end, and we're looking forward to our next event in Autumn... 👀

On Monday 20th July, we’ll be welcoming social housing tenants through our doors at Trafford Hall for The Tenants’ Voice event!

The event is an opportunity for us to learn and understand the various issues tenants face when communicating with their landlord. The aim of this project is to support social housing tenants by developing a digital platform that helps when dealing with housing issues, and these conversations with them can help us to find out what tenants need most from the project.

We’ve had a great response so far but still have a few more spaces for people to get involved. If you're a tenant, or are involved with any tenants or groups who would be interested in coming to the event, click here: http://bit.ly/43M4mRF

A great turnout in London last week for our event at The London School of Economics and Political Science - LSE!

The event was organised to help us with our development of The Tenants’ voice project, which aims to develop an innovative new digital platform to help social housing tenants, understand their rights in relation to a housing issues, get clear guidance on what to do next, communicate more effectively with their landlord and feel more confident about raising concerns and taking the next steps.

This event brought together social housing tenants so we could hear their past experiences with communicating with social landlords and directly feed into the development of the platform.

We’re so thankful for everyone that came along to help contribute to the project.

We have another in person event coming soon at our home in Trafford Hall, Chester. This event is on the 20th/21st July and is fully funded. If you’d like to attend please book here: https://bit.ly/3QHZABY
