Remembrance Day Parade
610 (City of Chester) Squadron cadets and staff made their way to Chester Town Centre for the 107th Remembrance Day Parade, in order to remember all those who gave their lives for Britain and for our freedom, and to commemorate the end of the first world war in 1918.
It is an important day in the calendar for our young cadets, as it gives them a chance to wear the ATCs uniform with pride, demonstrating to the public the cadets continued support to the British Forces, and to the hard work of the RAFAC.
Cadets represented themselves with perfect uniform and high standards of foot drill, especially those new cadets who are part of our training flight, and have only been working on foot drill since the start of October. More senior cadets had roles such as carrying the banner and wreath laying. It was great to see His Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire, and the Lord Mayor of Chester, as the squadron saluted them passing the town hall.
Following the main parade, a smaller group of cadets attended our own squadron service at Grosvenor Park, where we remembered those who served with 610 Royal Auxiliary Squadron between 1936 and 1957, who's squadron number we now represent. We gathered around the plaque set out in the park, where following a reading from the OC and Squadron Padre, we had a 2 minutes silence and a wreath laying. It was great to see cadets attend this more personal service.
Keep up to date with the squadron and what we get up to before the new year, by dropping us a follow on our socials!
