✈️ Airbus “Run the Runway” 5K - Supporting Space 💙

A huge thank you to Airbus for choosing to support Space with their upcoming “Run the Runway” 5K charity fun run! We’re incredibly grateful for their support.

The event promises to be a fantastic evening, giving Airbus employees, friends and family the unique opportunity to take part in a 5K run on the Airbus runway while raising money for an amazing cause.

★ Please note: Friends and family may only participate (as a runner or spectator) if their Airbus host is present on race day (either as a runner or spectator).

💛Thank you Jemma 💛

It has been an extraordinary 10 years here at SPACE, so we want to pay a heartfelt tribute to the founder of SPACE Jemma with a big thank you!

SPACE started as a simple idea around a kitchen table. An idea to create a place of belonging, safety and support for children with additional needs and their families. As a now thriving charity, we look back on that moment with awe for what has been created. This was only possible because of her passion and determination to create a place where every child could be seen. She has now built not just a service, but a community, where so many families facing immense challenges have found solace; understanding, joy, practical help and friendship, while facing those very own challenges herself.

As founder and CEO, Jemma shaped it all with the focus of the children and families at the heart of every decision. The impact of her work will continue to be felt in SPACE through every session, every family welcomed, and every child who finds confidence and connection at SPACE.

It is truly sad to see you move on, and we are incredibly proud of all you have achieved. Your legacy is firmly embedded in SPACE, and it will continue to grow long after your departure.

With heartfelt thanks and deepest appreciation for everything you have given. Good luck with the future, we are forever your biggest supporters!💛

A huge thank you to those who recently ran the half-Marathon in support for SPACE!💛

Thanks to the incredible effort, support, and fundraising from all involved, “Race for SPACE” has now raised over £8,000 for children with disabilities and additional needs! SPACE is so grateful to every runner, supporter, volunteer, and donor who helped make this possible.

✨ Introducing Sarah, the new CEO of SPACE ✨

We are delighted to welcome Sarah as the new CEO of SPACE. With extensive experience across the health and social care sector, alongside years of supporting charities as both a Trustee and volunteer, Sarah brings passion, leadership, and a strong commitment to ensuring every family and child has fair and equitable access to support.

Sarah has already spent time meeting some of the children, families, and staff who make SPACE such a special community, and shared this message:

“Hello,
I’m thrilled to be joining SPACE as the new CEO and I have already had a busy week catching up with things and going through my third round of interview questions with the children!

I have worked across the health and social care sector for most of my career as well as spent many years supporting the development of charities by being a Trustee and volunteer. I was particularly drawn to SPACE as I could see the incredible partnership between families, supporters and staff - fair and equitable access for all is very important to me and this is at the core of what SPACE delivers in order that families and children can thrive. I am delighted that I will now be part of this.

SPACE exists because of the courage of parents and supporters, and I will ensure that your input and voices are heard in the ongoing development and success of the organisation. I will also ensure that the wider communities and businesses of Chester are engaged in our plans and become invested in our success.

For many people, everyday environments can feel overwhelming. A sensory room provides a calm and controlled space where that intensity is reduced and replaced with soothing experiences.

At SPACE, our Sensory Room is thoughtfully designed to support emotional regulation and wellbeing. Features include a bubble tube, calming projectors, cause-and-effect equipment, and a heated water bed that is fully hoist accessible, ensuring that the space is inclusive and accessible for all.

Our Sensory Room is available to hire on Wednesdays for individuals and groups.

Today, Chester Man v Fat took on the challenge of playing football from 'Dawn 'til Dusk' in aid of SPACE and Rupert’s Rainbow .

A huge thank you to the organisers for their hard work behind the scenes to make the day such a success. To every single participant who laced up their boots and pushed themselves throughout the day, thank you! Your time and generosity means so much to us.

There’s so much for children to discover when visiting SPACE, and one of the favourites is our soft-play frame.

When we designed the SPACE play frame, accessibility was at the heart of every decision. Working alongside Play Creations, we created a space that’s not only fun and engaging, but inclusive for as many children as possible.

Here’s what makes it special:

• Each level is designed with enough space for an adult to comfortably accompany a child.
• Easy to navigate for those with limited mobility.
• Carefully chosen colours that are sensory-friendly, while still offering contrast for children with visual impairments.
• A soft, spacious slide that allows an adult to join in
• Sensory features throughout, designed to engage without overwhelming, including an infinity tunnel and dizzy disc.
• Lower-level access points suitable for mobile hoist users, including our trampoline.
