1st Ince and Elton Scouts

1st Ince and Elton Scouts Fun, challenge and adventure for girls and boys in and around the areas of Ince and Elton. https://1stinceandelton.org.uk/volunteer/

We are 1st Ince and Elton Scout Group, and we provide Scouting adventures to young people between the ages of 6 and 14 in Elton and surrounding areas (including Ince, Thornton-le-moors and Hapsford). The group in its current form has been running since 1949, although there is evidence of Scouting in the area before then. Our fantastic team of volunteers (ranging from Section Leaders to Exec Commit

tee members) work extremely hard to bring the Young People of Ince and Elton . We’re looking for volunteers to help young people become the leaders of the future in Elton. If you believe that every child has the right to learn important then why not volunteer today?

🌟 It’s Volunteers’ Week - and we’ve got something to shout about! 🌟

Behind every campfire, muddy field, last-minute game idea and perfectly chaotic meeting… there’s a team of volunteers making it all happen.

At 1st Ince and Elton, our volunteers give their time, energy (and occasionally their sanity!) to create opportunities our young people will remember for years.

Whether it’s planning camps, sorting admin, fixing things five minutes before they’re needed, or pulling together a programme week after week… they do it because they care.

💚 To every Leader, Assistant, Occasional Helper and Trustee - thank you.
💚 To those who step in, stay late and go the extra mile - thank you.
💚 And to the people quietly keeping everything ticking behind the scenes - thank you.

We genuinely couldn’t do this without you.

Thinking of getting involved? There’s always room for more (and we promise it’s not all chaos… just most of it 😄) ^AP

Take a second and think… who’s the leader your child talks about most? 👀

The one who makes meetings fun, remembers their name, encourages them, or just “gets it”.

That’s exactly who these nominations are for.

We know we’ve got some brilliant volunteers in our group — now’s the chance to make sure they hear that.

It only takes a couple of minutes, and every nominee receives the feedback 💛

We know last year’s Firework Display was missed by many in the village - and we missed it too.

Over the past few months, we’ve been looking carefully at whether we can bring the event back this year. The reality is that things have changed behind the scenes, particularly around safety requirements, site setup, and costs.

To run the event responsibly now, it would likely need:

- A more structured layout
- Additional safety measures
- Some changes to how the event is organised

Before making any decisions, we want to understand a few key things:

1️⃣ Volunteers
We can’t run the event with the same small team as before. If we go ahead, we’ll need additional help both:

- In the lead-up (planning, logistics, coordination)
- On the night (stewarding, entry, general support)

If you’d be willing to help, you can comment/message us or register your interest here: https://go.1stie.uk/55

2️⃣ Ticketing
We’d also really value honest feedback on the possibility of introducing a small ticket charge (around £5 per person).

This is something we’re exploring as one way to help cover the increased costs of running a safe and well-managed event.

3️⃣ Local Sponsorship
We’re also exploring whether local businesses might be willing to support the event, particularly to help cover essential safety measures such as fencing and security.

In return, we can offer recognition before and during the event to a large local audience.

If your business may be interested in supporting, please get in touch.

We’d really appreciate constructive feedback from the community as we consider the next steps.

We’ve had some great feedback already via the local community Facebook group, so we wanted to share this here too to gather as much input as possible.

If the event does go ahead, we’re currently looking at Saturday 7th November.

🔥 Ready, Steady… COOK! 🔥

Last night our Scouts took on their own cooking challenge - mystery ingredients, teamwork, and a ticking clock!

There were a few pasta mishaps along the way, but both teams pulled it back brilliantly. One team went bold with a creamy dish (after some initial scepticism!)… and it paid off 🏆

Great teamwork, great effort, and some seriously tasty results 👏
