Autumn & Winter: 12noon - 2pm

🌳 This little Robin has been seen in the garden recently. He’s been popping down to where Eileen is working, just to keep an eye 👁️ on what she’s doing! So she’s christened him ‘Steve’! 😆
We welcomed a new volunteer, Pat and look forward to seeing her again next Friday. We all tackled various jobs before the heavy downpour ☔️ then dashed inside for a tea break. Have a good weekend everyone whatever the weather.🌦️ 🦆🐸🐌🐛🦔

🌳 Huge, huge thanks 👏🏻goes out to everyone who pulled together this morning to tackle the large hedge. Linda deserves a medal🎖️for taking on the task of filling a large gap in the hedge with wire mesh then adding in a trellis. Looks great and should stop the neighbours dogs 🐕 from escaping!!! 😆 Borders were weeded and plants donated by Joan and Linda added. All in all a fantastic effort by our wonderful volunteers. We had our usual tea 🫖 and biscuits 🍪 thanks to James. However, we couldn’t leave before wishing our lovely Joan a very happy birthday 🥳 for this Sunday. 🎂🎁🥂

🌳The rain ☔️ held off to give our volunteers enough time to make a start on raising the hedge line. They did a fantastic job and it looks great. 👍🏻 This will give the plants underneath more light and make it easier to keep tidy. Eileen added hydrangeas, that had been in pots, along the ‘hydrangea border’ which should give a good display when in flower. 🌸 Thanks to everyone for your hard work today and to Marie for making our teas 🫖 and providing delicious 😋 biscuits. 🍪 Have a lovely weekend everyone. 🐞🦔 🐝 🪷

🌻Busy morning at the garden. Linda did a fab job adding plants and pebbles to a planter. Lawns were cut, pondweed removed and we continued cutting back the brambles and deadheading. We hadn’t expected it to rain 🌧️ so dashed inside for a cuppa when it did. Tim will be celebrating 🥳 his birthday 🎂🎁🎉on Sunday. We hope he has a great day.🍷Hope you have a great weekend. 🪴🪷🪏👩‍🌾🌼🌺👨‍🌾

🌻The garden has recovered well since we’ve had rain. 🌧️ The race is now on to try and keep on top of the fast growing grass and weeds! 😝 We made a start on tackling the overgrown brambles and rediscovered the ‘dead hedge’! Joan chose to take on deadheading, focusing on the roses.🌹 All in all an enjoyable gardening session. Thanks to Tim & James for tea 🫖 and biscuits 🍪 which James couldn’t get to fast enough!!! 😂🤦‍♀️ Have a great weekend. 💐🌼🌷🐞

🌻The weather can’t make up its mind today. We’ve had bright spells ☀️ and heavy rain.☔️ The garden definitely needs the rain. Thanks to our volunteers who managed to do some gardening before the heavens opened. So it was a case of putting the gardening tools away and heading inside for a good chat over cups of tea 🫖 and biscuits. 🍪 Hope everyone enjoys a great bank holiday weekend despite the rainy weather.🌦️ 🦆🦋🪲💐

🌻 James will be celebrating 🥳 his birthday🎂on Wednesday. We sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to him as he couldn’t wait until then to open his card! 🤪 We hope he has a wonderful day. The rain 🌧️ we’ve had so far has benefitted the garden and the grass has already started to ‘green up’. Thanks again to our volunteers 👩‍🌾👨‍🌾 for turning up - you’re all fab!!! We’re going back to our usual start time of 10am next Friday so see you then. 🪷🌺🪲

🌻A lot cooler today. Thanks to everyone for coming to the garden this morning. We carried on with tidying up borders etc. As everywhere, the ground is extremely dry and plants have suffered enormously this summer. However, the water lilies are beautiful. We also picked, possibly for the last time, blackberries as most seem past their best now. Thanks to James and Marie for making the teas and to Marie who provided delicious biscuits! 😋 Enjoy your weekend. 🪷🐞🐝

🌻The blackberries were just calling out to be picked so that’s exactly what we did before any actual gardening this morning.😃 We did have to battle our way through prickly weeds but well worth it! Then onto deadheading, watering etc., followed by a nice cup of tea 🫖 and Jammie Dodgers 😋 in the sunshine.☀️ Thanks everyone and see you next Friday. 🍐🍎🌼
