Tonight was a wild one 🤪

We played a game where we had to use a spray bottle with water to move a paper cup down the string!!! We played on two teams as a race!! It was very noisy!! It was also harder than it looks!!!

We said goodbye to Henry tonight who is loving up to beavers!!! He also achieved his certificate for earning ALL his squirrel badges!!! Well done Henry!! 🥳🥳 we will miss you but I hope you have loads of fun with beavers! 🦫

Tonight we celebrated national biscuit day!! Many of the leaders favourite 🤣

We rolled some icing and used some cutters to make our initials to put on top of some biscuits!!

We played some games inbetween and went to look at the garden that some of the leaders have been working hard on!!

It was also Badge Night and we had all earned quite a few badges this month 🥳🥳

We had 2 very special awards given out also!! Nate and Dafydd have earned their chief scout acorn award 🥇 this is the highest badge a squirrel can earn and shows their dedication and commitment to squirrels, well done 🥳🥳

We started by playing a game where we had a beehive per team and lots of “pollen” in the hexagon shape, when their number was shouted they had 10 seconds to get as much pollen back to their beehive but only one piece at a time!!!

We then made our own beehives and had a queen bee and some other bees in them!!! We were very impressed by how much the squirrels already knew about bees!!! 🐝

Theodore has gone home with Dafydd this week as he had such a super evening listening and focusing so well on our activity!!!! 🐿️

Monday Cubs 18th May 2026

We finished off our naturalist and athletics badges
We made bug houses using empty tins, filling them with sticks and weeds etc then decorating them.as a ladybug or bumblebee

We also made a bird feeders using empty toliet roll, peanut butter and seeds

Played some team games, racing each other.

Tonight we learnt where fruit and vegetables come from!! Our clever squirrels were already very clued up on how and where they grow so we played matching cards with the pictures of the fruit and veg and made our own plants with some play dough!!!

We finished off with a lovely story with our juice and biscuits and Theodore decided to go home with Bobby and Theo this week for double the adventure 🥳

Saltney Ferry Squirrels turns 3 🥳🥳

We had a great night celebrating our 3rd birthday 🎂

We played musical statues, did a balloon relay race, hide and seek and played on the park!! Acorn got bubbles for all the squirrels and we had lots of fun and laughter!!

We sang happy birthday to our mascot Theodore who even had his own party hat thanks to squirrel!!

As leaders we can honestly say it’s been an absolute ball the past 3 years but the best bit by far is watching the children grow in confidence and just having some fun!! 🤩

Had an amazing weekend on the ScoutsCymru Water Activities Team - SWAT / Tîm Dŵr Cenedlaethol ScoutsCymru River Wye Canoe Cruise! 3 days kayaking from Hoarwithy down to Monmouth, camping each night and moving to a new campsite each day!

We had a super busy night tonight!!!

We played a warm up game where we recapped our squirrel rules then played the same game to guess what some bugs eat!!

We then found the bugs and ticked them off our list!

We then got to play on the park where some of us completed challenges, some of us played with our friends and most of us tried to scare bluebelle and acorn! We had some brave squirrels trying new things and even a super caring squirrel who made sure they helped someone!!

At the end Elliot was awarded a certificate for earning all the activity badges we have before he climbed down the tree and received his moving on badge ready to go to beavers next week!! 🐿️🦫
