💙 Volunteer's Week 💙

It’s Volunteer's Week and we want to say a huge thank you to the incredible volunteers who help make Birtley Community Pool possible.

As a charity-run community pool, we could not do what we do without the dedication, commitment and generosity of our volunteers.
From our welcoming Reception Volunteers to our lifesaving Lifeguard Volunteers and our Practical Task Volunteers who work behind the scenes maintaining our facilities.

We would also like to give special recognition to our Trustees. As volunteers themselves, they dedicate countless hours behind the scenes, giving their time, expertise and leadership to oversee the charity, support our staff and volunteers, and help ensure a sustainable future for the pool. Much of their work goes unseen, but their commitment is vital to the continued success of Birtley Community Pool, and we are incredibly grateful for everything they do.

Every hour volunteered helps us provide an important community facility for local people.

To all our volunteers, past and present, thank you. Your support and commitment make a real difference, and Birtley Community Pool would not be what it is today without you.

📢 Private Booking - Thursday 4th June 2026 9:30-11:15am 📢

The building will be closed to all public swimming 9:30am to 11:15am on Thursday 4th June 2026 due to a private booking.

Please note that the entire pool will be unavailable to the public during this time.
All other sessions on the timetable will run as normal.

🏊‍♂️ Paul’s Four Lakes Challenge - First Swim Complete! 🌊
Last Saturday (16th May), Birtley Community Pool volunteer Paul completed the first swim of his Four Lakes Challenge fundraiser, taking on Derwentwater in Keswick.

Paul swam an amazing 2.2 miles in open water, completing the challenge in just 65 minutes! 👏
Paul is swimming four Lake District lakes, covering nearly 30 miles in total, to help raise vital funds for our community-run pool.

His challenge includes:
✅ Derwentwater - completed
🔜 Coniston - June
🔜 Ullswater - July
🔜 Windermere - September

Every donation will help us continue providing accessible swimming and community programmes for local people.

📢 Reminder - Aquafit Cancellation 📢
The AquaFit class led by Jamie on a Tuesday at 7:15pm is cancelled until further notice.

The session on Wednesday 27th at 9:15am is also cancelled this week.

All other sessions this week are running as normal.

Age Guidelines 👪
✅️ Children 8+ who complete a 25 meter swim test can go on the inflatable without an adult
✅️ Children 4-7 must be supervised by an adult on the inflatables
✅️ Children under 5 must be supervised by an adult on the slide
✅️ Infants aged 0-3 must be supervised with a ratio of 1 adult to 1 infant
