Dreamflight is a UK charity that takes children with a serious illness or disability on a holiday of a lifetime to Orlando. The experience can be life-changing, giving young people the chance to do something that medicine can’t - discover independence, confidence and a new outlook on life. Each year, Dreamflight selects deserving children aged 8 to 14 to embark on this magical journey. With the su

pport of medical professionals and dedicated volunteers, the children experience the thrill of theme parks, meet beloved characters and create memories that last a lifetime. For many, it’s their first time away from home without family, helping them build independence and self-belief. Dreamflight also provides UK adventure trips for children with more complex needs or where travel to the US isn’t possible. These experiences ensure that every child has the opportunity to gain confidence, make friends and embrace new challenges. Dreamflight is more than just a trip - it’s a chance for children to shine beyond their circumstances, discover their own strength and embrace new possibilities. Earlier this month, our wonderful supporters Matt and Lorraine Brown organised their much-loved event, The Brightest Star - a joyful, family fun day held in memory of their daughter, Alexys 💙

Thanks to the amazing support of their friends, family, and the Weymouth community, the event raised an outstanding £11,160 for Dreamflight!

We are, as always, so grateful to Matt, Lorraine, and everyone who helps make The Brightest Star such a special day 🌟

It’s National Rollercoaster Day, and who loves rollercoasters? We do of course!

From Hulk and VelociCoaster to Manta and Mako, the rides are a big part of the fun on our trips. We can’t wait for this year’s Very Important Children (VICs) to try them out!

The 2027 TCS London Marathon Disability Ballot is now open! 🏃

If you have a permanent disability or long term health condition, you can now apply for a place in the 2027 Double TCS London Marathon. Both General Disability and Assisted Wheelchair entries are available, with places allocated via a random ballot.

Applications close just before midnight on Monday 24 August 2026.

If you’re successful and would like to run for Dreamflight, we’d love to hear from you - your miles could help us give life changing experiences to children with a serious illness or disability.

Ruthie was 13 years old when she was invited to go on a Dreamflight trip to Orlando in 2016. At the time, she was navigating medical appointments, missing time with friends, and trying to work out what her future as a disabled young adult might look like. Walking into her first Dreamflight meeting was daunting, but Ruthie quickly realised she was surrounded by children who understood her world 💙

On the trip, volunteers supported her in ways that removed barriers rather than reinforced them - helping her onto rollercoasters, guiding her down water slides, and encouraging her to try things she’d always thought were out of reach.

While Ruthie was discovering independence in Orlando, mum Ali was experiencing her own shift at home too. For the first time in years, she wasn’t Ruthie’s primary carer. She found space to think about her own future and took the first steps towards her dream of becoming a psychotherapist 🤩

“2016 was Ruthie’s Dreamflight year and it became mine too!” – Ali

The trip didn’t just change Ruthie’s confidence; it changed her future. She returned home ready to advocate for herself and chase her ambition to study law. In 2024 she graduated with first class honours.

Ten days in Orlando became a turning point for them both. Because Dreamflight is not just a trip; it’s the beginning of what’s possible 💫

“I wouldn’t have felt confident enough to take those steps if I hadn’t gone on Dreamflight. It's a bit crazy to say, because I feel like if I say that to someone who hasn’t experienced Dreamflight, they're like, ‘it's just a trip to Florida’, but it's so much more than that.” – Ruthie
