We are pleased to share that Container Prue has arrived safely in Zambia, and the contents are now being offloaded! 🚛

Packed by our volunteers, Container Prue is filled with 114 tool kits and 167 sewing and knitting machines. The tools and equipment will be distributed to a number of secondary schools and skills training centres.

Thanks to your generous donations, these resources will help transform the lives of the young people who receive them. By supporting practical, hands-on training, they will help people develop skills that can lead to employment, self-employment, or the creation of their own businesses.

Meet Marion Ayugi, a tailoring student from Aputuku Village in the Lira District of Northern Uganda. Having faced some challenges, she enrolled in a tailoring programme with a strong desire to transform her future.

Through the training, she has acquired foundational skills in garment making and is demonstrating excellent progress.

Even without access to personal tools, Marion has already begun applying her skills. She successfully designed and produced two dresses for a neighbour, earning her first income generated from tailoring.

Marion shares: ,“I am so happy that I can now make a dress by myself. I believe that when I complete this training, I will be able to earn a living and even continue with further training.”

Yesterday, we bid farewell to Container Cassidy, which has begun its journey to Zambia! 🚛 David, a volunteer in the sewing machine section, named this container after his delightful grandson Cassidy.

Inside are 725 boxes of donated tools and equipment, including 136 sewing and knitting machines, which will be distributed to the various projects we support, such as training centres and schools.

These tools change the lives of those who receive them, allowing them to learn a new income-generating skill such as tailoring.

We were delighted to welcome Katy from Harrow School for a recent visit.

After a long history in dairy and livestock, they are bringing Harrow Farm back to life as a community farm and outdoor education hub creating valuable opportunities for learning, sustainability and community connection.

"We're so grateful for Workaid's donation of garden tools - these will help our volunteers get our growing plot and polytunnels into shape so a new generation can enjoy growing on the farm again. Thank you!"

It’s a pleasure to support initiatives that make a real difference and inspire future generations to connect with nature! 🌱
