Just a gentle reminder that tomorrow we have Iain Killingbeck coming from TfL to let us know what action is being taken to ensure that Chesham gets a good, reliable train service.

After his presentation he'll be hosting a no-holds barred Q&A session in which members of the public can ask him about any issues which are of concern - delays, cancellations, train information displays, etc and anything else you can think of.

The Meeting is being held on Tuesday 4th August in Chesham Town Hall starting at 7.30pm and we hope to see as many of you there as possible. There's no charge for admission and it's an excellent opportunity to let TfL know your views.

The Met Line is under the control of the Mayor of London but as soon as the line leaves the GLA Boundary (around Moor Park) and runs into Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, there are no votes to be won and therefore that part of the Met is of little interest to him.

However, we’ve recently discovered that two TfL Board Members are charged with responsibility for looking after the interests of those of us living outside the GLA area.

In fact they have a whole department dedicated to this task and one of their Senior people will be coming along to meet us next month to tell us exactly what they’ve been doing in that respect.

Are you happy with our service of late and do you think they’re doing a good job? If not, come along and let him know your thoughts:-

Chesham Town Hall @ 7.30pm on Tuesday 4th August.

Will you be there, or are you happy with just grumbling online?

One of our Senior contacts within TfL has contacted us with an explanation for the recent poor service on the Met:-

----------------------------------------------------------------------
"I’m writing to apologise for the Met service.

Unfortunately we’ve got a couple of big issues going on:-

We do have some train operator resourcing issues, we’ve had higher than expected attrition however we do have new train operators coming in so this should resolve soon.
We are also having to train all our operators on the next section of the 4LM signalling upgrade (SMA9) so this is not helping with our availability. We’ve reviewed the training programme to lessen the burden on coverage. Next week there will be less courses running and so should help with our duty coverage.

In addition there are some issues with the track condition so there are currently speed restrictions in the Wembley area. The whole area will be rerailed over the coming weeks which will mean the speed restriction can be lifted."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hopefully this provides some useful insight into what's been going on.

Planned works affecting the Circle, District, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines on Saturday 13 June have been postponed due to last minute technical issues.

We are working hard to restore as much service as possible but unfortunately, we will not be able to restore a full service in the morning.

If you are travelling on Saturday 13 June, please plan ahead and check before you travel on our website or TfL Go for the latest information on how services are running.

Unfortunately, Iain Killingbeck from TfL will not be joining us on 16th June but will attend our meeting on 4th August instead.

I had thought the June strike was off, but I've just received this notification from TfL:-
