Ottershaw BRAG

Ottershaw BRAG What do we aim to do? Reduce the density of planned dwellings to reflect the reduced size of the plot.

A community action group called BRAG (Brox Road (Nursery) Action Group) with a specific interest in the pending development where Richborough Estates plan to build 220 dwellings known as 'Ottershaw East' to some and Brox Road Nursery to others The design must include green space

Ensure that Vistry Group complies with the highest design standards outlined in Runnymede Borough Council’s policies. P

lanners want to hear objections based on fact - so those that align to policies ("The Rule Book"). We will work through the policies and provide members with key objection points. If you want to add in personal objections such as loss of view - then do, but unfortunately, they are unlikely to take these into account.

📢 Public Meeting Invitation 📢
Our local Surrey County Councillor, Jonathan Hulley, invites you to a meeting on Tuesday, 11th March at 7pm in the Ottershaw Village Hall. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the A320 roadworks, including the Ottershaw Roundabout.
Jonathan will be there as our Surrey County Councillor representative, acting on behalf of us, his constituents, not on behalf of Surrey County Council (SCC) or the appointed contractor, Graham.
The Ottershaw Neighbourhood Forum (ONF) has agreed to assist in facilitating this meeting and will also be inviting our MP, Dr. Ben Spencer, and Cllr. Scott Lewis to attend due to their knowledge of the scheme.
No registration is needed to attend. Please share this with as many local residents and business owners as possible and do try to attend this opportunity to speak with our Surrey County Councillor face to face.
For more information about this scheme ahead of the meeting, please head to the SCC website or find more information on the commonplace website.

Update from Runnymede Enforcement Officer (last week):
If you see any heavy load vehicles that are entering the site, the incorrect way please can you inform Steven Drew of Vistry (on site) with the registration plate. This enables Vistry to contact the driver and inform them directly of the correct route.

A new gate man started on Monday. AA signs are being installed to direct drivers to the correct route to the site, these are being installed by the highways department. A tarmac road has been completed, and work on the car park for staff and vehicles has begun. Hopefully, this will eliminate the backlog onto the main road and allow staff members to park within the site.

Drivers and delivery companies are provided with the correct routes, which Vistry has been attaching to all emails and delivery instructions. Unfortunately, some drivers still ignore these details and rely solely on their satnavs.

Update from Runnymede enforcement officer:
The area for trade parking has begun and estimated to be completed in a few weeks. There is no mention of time frame within the planning permission - It is within their interest to install the car park which they are in the process of doing.

Regarding dust-Appropriate measures set out in the Construction Traffic Management Plan have been put in place, but due to the recent weather, the land dried out quickly after the water sprays were applied.

Gallons of water are being delivered to the site to help mitigate the amount of dust generated. Hopefully, with the cooler weather, the dust levels should not be as high as before.

Wheel washing facilities are designed to clean mud and dirt from the wheels of vehicles. Given the current weather conditions, which have not caused any significant mud, these facilities have not been necessary. However, I have been informed that within the next month, a wheel washing facility will be set up at the front of the site.

UPDATE: VISTRY HAVE REPLIED SAYING THIS IS PART OF THIER APPROVED CEMP DOCUMENT WHICH GIVES APPROVAL TO REMOVE IT. WE WERE VERBALLY TOLD IT WAS STAYING - JUST GOES TO SHOW IF IT'S NOT IN WRITING......!!!

IN THE MEAN TIME IT BEGS THE QUESTION WHY HAVE THEY DONE IT IN SUCH A DISGUSTING MANNER LEAVING BARBED WIRE ALL OVER THE PLACE?

WHY HAVE THEY DONE IT DURING PEAK NESTING SEASON (APPARENTLY IT WAS CHECKED FOR NESTING BIRDS) AND IN FULL BLOOM?

WHAT KIND OF RESPONSIBLE DEVELOPER ARE THEY?

OH, APPARENTLY IT IS BEING REPLACED WITH A SMALLER HEDGE SO I GUESS WE SHOULD BE THANKFUL?! 😡

********UPDATE********

Yesterday BRAG and Ottershaw Neighbourhood Forum representatives met with Vistry members - who will effectively be the build and site managers.

We were told:
All conditions have now been signed off with regards to the residential works.
Demolition of the glasses houses is undertaken by a sub-contracted demolition company and they are looking to recommence this work w/c 12th Feb (weather permitting).
The ground-clearing work will then follow and be undertaken by another sub-contracted company.
The demolition and ground clearing work is likely to take approximately 8 weeks.
After this, Vistry will be on-site with a compound and carpark on the land.
They should all be working to the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) and the Construction Traffic Management Plan (CTMP) (amongst others which can be found using the links below).
If in the next 8 weeks anyone has any concerns about what is happening on site, please feel free to raise with us and we can direct these to Vistry, alternatively, you should be able to approach the sub-contractor who will be on site using information displayed at the entrance gates.
Going forwards in later months, those that live on the border can expect a newsletter from Vistry giving key information and updates about the site. We will also be able to share a PDF version of this on our sites.

Please share this information with neighbours and friends.

Dangerous Driving
Did you know.....
Acts like driving along a pavement are a driving offence. These are the driving offences which should be reported and acted on by Surrey Police:
· It is an offence to drive on to a pavement, contrary to s.72 of the Highway Act 1835 and s.34 of the Road Traffic Act 1988.
· It is an offence to leave a vehicle on a road (including the pavement) in a dangerous position, contrary to s.22 of the Road Traffic Act 1988.
· It is an offence to obstruct a pavement, contrary to Regulation 103 of the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986
· It is an offence to park a HGV on a verge or footway of a road, contrary to s.19 of the Road Traffic Act 1988

Seen this happening and want to do something about it?

Make a road traffic incident report within 7 days of the alleged offence using photographic evidence where possible. If it is over 7 days they will not be able to serve someone with a notice of intended prosecution within the 14 day period they have to work by and by default, they will not investigate it.

Before reporting a collision or a driving offence, find out what we need and what you can expect after you make a report.

Are you wondering what's happening with the Ottershaw Roundabout alterations? Think it's not happening anymore? That is not the case! We believe there are still many outstanding issues with the approved scheme. This includes planning conditions that were written into the approved application which would be breached, IF the approved design goes ahead. We want to keep as many of the community up to date with what's happening and what the issues are to keep the conversation alive - please don't think it is not happening just because all of SCC communications on the matter have gone silent..........😒

🎬Click the link below to see a video we have created alongside other Ottershaw community groups to explain the issues so you can understand why it is so important to achieve the very best for OUR village. Click on the link below to see the video play and press the full screen icon for better viewing. Please feel free to share the video far and wide.
