We’re really excited to be welcoming Lynne Neagle MS, Senedd Member for Monmouthshire and Torfaen, to Basecamp on 18 August! 🌺

Lynne is interested in finding out more about what we’re doing locally, the people and communities we support, and our plans for the future.

We’re looking forward to showing her around, talking about our work and sharing why accessible mental health support, learning and community connection are so important to local people.

It’s lovely to see the work happening at Basecamp getting noticed, and we’re looking forward to a good conversation!

AUTUMN CPD SERIES
We’re pleased to be offering a new programme of practical CPD at Basecamp Training Centre, Chepstow, this autumn.

As a community-focused, not-for-profit organisation, we aim to keep our CPD affordable and accessible, so that cost is less of a barrier to continuing professional development.

The sessions are practical, experiential and relevant to professional practice, giving you skills and approaches that you can add to your existing toolkit.

You don’t need to attend the whole series – each training can be booked individually, depending on what is most relevant to your interests and professional development.

When trauma enters the therapy room…

Beneath the surface there may be changes in memory, the brain, the body, emotions, beliefs and the ways we relate to ourselves and others.

This practical one-day training explores how trauma is experienced, assessed and supported — including stabilisation, processing approaches and therapeutic techniques.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Open Day last Friday. 🌿

It was lovely to open our doors and welcome people into our space from our community partners at Monmouthshire County Council, GAVO and Bridges, to people interested in our therapeutic work, counselling courses and community projects.

We were also really pleased to be joined by some of our students, counsellors, staff and volunteers, who are such an important part of the Basecamp community.

A special thank you to Chepstow Town Mayor and Councillor Vanessa Badderley-Potter for taking the time to visit us and find out more about the work we are doing here in the community.

It was a lovely afternoon of conversations and connecting with people. Thank you to everyone who came along, spent time with us and helped us celebrate what we are building here at Basecamp.

A new Neurodiverse Group for young people (13–18) in Chepstow is launching next week.

This is a relaxed, low-pressure space to meet others, share ideas, and try different activities together.

First session:

The group will develop around what young people want to do — your ideas will shape it.

Our Neurodiverse Group in Chepstow relaunched on 7th July and is now running weekly.

Thanks to funding from the GAVO RIF Small Grants Scheme, we’re continuing to offer a relaxed, supportive space for neurodiverse adults (18+).

So far this month:
🔥 BBQ to kick things off
🎯 Croquet last week
🌿 Next week: bramble basket making

This group is shaped by the people who come — the more people involved, the more ideas and activities we can build together.
