The new library of things are now live! We’ve got six Vision 21 volunteers trained up to support with testing and maintenance and have purchased and installed the collections. Great to see the success of our pilot project at Charlton Kings continue to grow and play a key role in this service reaching new communities.

πŸŽ‰ We’re excited to launch our new Library of Things!

You can now borrow a range of practical and useful items from Quedgeley, Up Hatherley and Charlton Kings Libraries β€” from cleaning, gardening and DIY tools to gadgets and party equipment.

Why buy something you only need occasionally when you can borrow it locally?

βœ” Save money
βœ” Save space
βœ” Reduce waste
βœ” Try new things without the upfront cost

Pop into one of the participating libraries to see what’s on the shelves, or ask staff to find out what you can borrow. Let’s make sharing the new normal in Gloucestershire! πŸ’™πŸ“š

This year we will be growing sweet potatoes at Annecy Gardens to link with our friendship town Kisumu, Kenya. We're also co-hosting a talk https://www.tickettailor.com/events/thegreenhouse/2201408

Where you can learn about how growing sweet potatoes is helping the Aniga Women adapt to the effects of climate change and the work Aniga Women Initiative and Global Footsteps do to support.

Vision 21 were delighted to win the contract to help Gloucestershire Libraries to launch these two new Libraries of Things. We maintain, insure and purchase the items and our volunteers support by checking an testing them between borrowers.

πŸ› οΈ Gloucestershire Libraries offer more than books! On Tuesday, 5th May, The Library of Things will launch at two new locations: Quedgeley Library and Up Hatherley Library!

πŸͺ If you're looking for tools or equipment for a one-off project or event, why buy when you can borrow?

🌳These two new locations are an addition to our first Library of Things in Charlton Kings Library. Did you know that last year, from this one location alone:

β™» 482 items were loaned
☁ 16.74 tonnes of Co2e were avoided
πŸ’΅Β£53,490 was saved by our service users

More information is coming next week, but for now, why not make sure you're a library member so you can access this service? It's FREE to join!
