TPSC Cheltenham are proud to be performing with The People's Show Choir - Weston super Mare supporting this annual charity event again in September.
Last year the organisers gave us free sparklers - was so much fun!

Quotes of the week from two of our members about how they find the choir experience and what keeps them coming back :-

"I joined TPSC in January when I was no longer able to sing with my previous choir. I knew one person but we had been out of contact. I went along to my free sessions and was warmly greeted and given music and words. A few newbies hung out together. Our choir leader is awesome. Right from the warm up, it was fun. I love how everyone is involved. After my second free session, I knew I wanted to join. I look forward to a joyous sing every week...and we sound amazing. I now really feel part of this choir and have rekindled old friendships and made new friends. After 9 years with one choir, I couldn't imagine life in another. So glad I joined. We are choir family " ~ Sheena

"I wrote this after our summertime hits gig and totally forgot to add to our chat. I joined in January because I've always loved a good sing-song. Although I hadn't sung in a choir since school, which, let's just say, was quite a long time ago but I thought I'd give it a go. From my very first rehearsal, I was welcomed with open arms. You are such a friendly, supportive group, and in just a few short months I've come to feel like part of the family already. No matter what kind of day I've had, I always leave rehearsal with a smile on my face. The choir has been such a boost for my mental health and wellbeing and, without doubt, one of the very best decisions l've made in a long time.
If I may borrow a line from Morecambe and Wise, at the start I sometimes felt I was singing all the right notes—or at least some of them—but not necessarily in the right order! Yet somehow, through everyone's encouragement, patience and teamwork, something magical happens.
Standing there, singing together, hearing all the parts come together, sharing the music and the joy with audiences, are moments to never forget. A huge thank you to every member of the choir for your friendship, laughter, encouragement and support. And a very special thank you to Mark and James. Your talent, dedication, patience and passion for music shine through in everything you do. You somehow manage to bring out the best in all of us, whether we're seasoned performers or, like me, returning to choir singing after many years away. The joy, confidence and sense of achievement you've helped create is something truly special. I'm incredibly grateful to be part of this wonderful choir and already can't imagine my weeks without it.
Here's to many more songs, smiles, friendships and magical moments together." ~ Ange

This week as we look forward to returning to choir after the summer break we want to share some feedback from our 'newer' members of our choir family:-

I found the choir while exploring new social opportunities to meet people and make new friends, as I am new to the area. The welcome was warm and friendly. Our charismatic and knowledgeable choir leader keeps everyone on track in a firm, yet friendly and relaxed manner throughout the weekly rehearsals. The organisation of various opportunities to perform for a wide range of audiences adds another rewarding dimension to the experience. Music and singing stimulate the brain, bringing joy to both those who sing and those who listen. ~ Emma

Hi,
Just to say how I find choir.
There is always a friendly welcome and a lot of kindness but once the singing starts everything else going on in my life is forgotten and it is just fun making music. I have also got slightly more confident that I might be singing some of the right notes in some of the right places but, if I don't I am beginning to feel that it doesn't really matter too much... it seems to be the taking part that counts and there are enough good singers to cover up my faux pas anyway! I don't have to sing quietly either and feel that I can just enjoy myself as my confidence grows in what I am doing.
Thanks for making me so welcome and I look forward to the next time we meet.
~ Nigel

WHO ARE WE?
We are a national network of community show choirs and orchestras across England, Wales and Scotland. But we are also a charity which supports people getting back into work, giving benefits advice, support making positive choices, provide work placements, micro grants and through social prescribing offer subsidised choir membership for those most in need of financial, physical and emotional support by being fully inclusive. Every membership subscription, performance and act of support adds up to a lifeline for people in crisis. Another great benefit of being a choir member - come and join us on 10th September for the start of term. You won't regret it!

We’re still buzzing after Saturday at Symphony Hall. 🌟

As The People’s Show Choir Cheltenham, we’ve taken part in many performances over the years, but Jukebox Live! is one we’ll be talking about for a long time. Singing alongside voices from across England, Scotland and Wales, the stage was filled with colour, energy and a powerful sense of togetherness. 💫

From the very first note, the atmosphere was electric. The orchestra was outstanding, the audience were fully engaged, and every performance was met with huge applause. It truly felt like everyone in the room was part of something special. 💖

There were so many standout moments. The on-stage connection between conductors Saphran and Ula, the sea of movement during Reach, and the beautiful glow of lights during Love Shine A Light. Just as meaningful were the moments behind the scenes, with new friendships forming, nerves turning into laughter, and people travelling from across the UK to sing as one choir.

A heartfelt thank you to the musicians, singers, soloists Jade McLennan and Julie Winch, and the incredible team who made the weekend possible. It was an unforgettable experience. 🥰

And the best part? This could be happening right on your doorstep. If you’ve ever wanted to be part of something big, NOW is your moment. Come and join us on this exhilarating journey with us! 😄 👇️

Mascara warning! 🥹
Following our end of term summer concert we received this really heartwarming message from two ladies in the audience who brought their mum who suffers from dementia to hear us and join in the fun. She had them up on their feet dancing throughout and was definitely enjoying herself ❤️

I've just shown mum a video from your show.....
Omg I'm with my mum, she recalls with excitement the choir last week. Honestly my mum doesn't remember who we are, although she knows us, but she remembers the singing and how she felt 😍😍
If this doesn't prove what singing and music does for the heart and soul then I dont know what does...
I'm a bit overwhelmed tbh 🩷🩷🩷 Thank you for bringing sunshine to my mum's forever fading memory 🩷

We were so honoured to have them join us especially as many of us have also had first hand experience of having loved ones living with dementia - it was joyful to see her join in the spirit of the event dancing and singing ☺️

One Saturday. One Symphony Hall. 💫

Hundreds of powerful voices. A rip-roaring orchestra. 🎤🎻

The result? Tears of joy from a night of extraordinary entertainment! 🌟
