Lilian Faithfull Care

Lilian Faithfull Care Lilian Faithfull Care is a charity celebrating over 75 years of providing exceptional care for people in Gloucestershire.

Caring for people since 1946

Our charity offers a full range of support, including adult day care, respite, independent living, residential, and nursing care, with specialist expertise in dementia and end of life care. We are in care for the right reasons – not for profit. We provide comfortable and supportive place to live with a β€˜Home for Life’ promise - meaning a resident never leaves our care

homes due to financial reasons. We never forget our older generation formed our modern way of living. We believe it's our duty to care for those who have helped form our way of life and have given so much to our society. We remain true to our Founder Lilian Faithfull and her principles; "a desire to improve the lives of others through care and dedication."

A little friendly competition and a lot of therapeutic benefit! 🎳

Last week at Faithfull House, our physiotherapy placement students joined our Lead Physiotherapist, Martin, to support residents in a game of skittles.

While it might look like simple fun, skittles is a fantastic and highly adaptable activity that can help improve balance, hand-eye coordination, strength and overall motor skills. By incorporating meaningful activities into physiotherapy sessions, we can support people to maintain their independence, confidence and mobility in an enjoyable and engaging way.

A big thank you to Martin and our student physiotherapists for helping to make exercise both beneficial and fun.

When the weather is as unpredictable as it is in this country, sometimes the best thing to do is settle in with the things you love. πŸ§Άβ˜•

For some of the ladies at Royal Court, that means an afternoon of knitting, nattering and enjoying each other's company.

Supported by the wonderful Karen, Jass and Michele, our Knit and Natter Club is about much more than wool and knitting needles. It's about continuing cherished hobbies, maintaining friendships, sharing stories and enjoying meaningful moments together.

At Lilian Faithfull Care, we believe that moving into a care home shouldn't mean giving up the life you enjoy. Instead, care should provide the support that enables people to keep doing the things that bring them purpose, comfort and happiness.

Because, we believe, care home life should be a supported version of the life you want to live. πŸ’œ

Celebrating Cindy's 5-Year Milestone! πŸŽ‰

This week, we're delighted to celebrate a very special long service milestone for Cindy, our wonderful PA at St Faith's, who has now been part of the Lilian Faithfull family for five years.

Supporting Home Manager Teresa and helping to keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes, Cindy is a familiar and friendly face who is loved by residents, their families and colleagues alike. Her dedication, professionalism and willingness to go the extra mile make a real difference every single day.

We're incredibly grateful for everything Cindy has contributed over the past five years and are honoured to take this opportunity to recognise her hard work and commitment.

Thank you, Cindy, from all of us at Lilian Faithfull Care. Here's to many more years to come! πŸ’œ

This week, we said goodbye to Julie, who has been part of the Royal Court team for around 13 years, working our Sunday late shift and supporting countless residents, families and colleagues along the way.

While she will be greatly missed by everyone at Royal Court, we wish her all the very best for the future and hope the next chapter brings her happiness, good health and plenty of well-deserved relaxation.

Still growing, still thriving. πŸ…πŸŒ±

David, who lives at Royal Court, has enjoyed gardening for many years. It's a hobby that has brought him great pleasure throughout his life, so we're delighted to see him still spending time in the greenhouse, tending to his tomato plants and enjoying the rewards of his hard work.

At Lilian Faithfull Care, we believe that moving into a care community shouldn't mean leaving behind the things that make you you. Whether it's gardening, baking, music, art, or any other cherished pastime, our role is to provide the support and reassurance that enables people to continue living fulfilling and meaningful lives.

We see ourselves not as taking over, but as the safety net around people, helping them maintain their independence, pursue their interests, and continue doing the things they love for as long as possible.

If you or a loved one are considering the next chapter and would like to learn more about life in one of our care communities, we'd be delighted to hear from you.

This weekend at Bay Tree Court, we marked the 82nd anniversary of the Normandy D-Day landings with an afternoon of wartime songs, shared memories and reflection.

For many of the people who live with us, D-Day is not just a chapter in a history book. It is a moment that shaped the world they grew up in and the lives they have lived.

As we sang some much-loved wartime classics together, we took time to remember the courage, sacrifice and resilience of all those who served.

What is a Dementia Disco?

It might sound simple, but there is a growing body of research showing that music can reduce anxiety, improve wellbeing, support communication, and help people living with dementia reconnect with memories and emotions.

Our latest article explores the science behind music in dementia care and why our Dementia Disco at Royal Court has become such a special event for residents, families and colleagues.

Music has a wonderful way of bringing people together. 🎢

It was lovely to see so many people up and dancing at Bay Tree Court as Jo sang some much-loved classics. From singing along to sharing a dance with friends, there were smiles all around.

Thank you, Jo, for a wonderful afternoon.
