Cheltenham Speakers Club

Cheltenham Speakers Club We meet twice a month, creating a fun and supportive space to find your voice, build your speaking ability, grow confidence, and learn from others.

We're also part of the Toastmasters International community. Through speaking games, impromptu one-minute speeches, prepared speeches, and training workshops, we help members to improve their skill at simply 'speaking out loud to people'. You could join us as a beginner, or as someone with speaking experience who wants to improve their existing skills. We're part of the Toastmasters International

community - a nonprofit educational organisation that builds confidence and teaches public speaking skills through a worldwide network of clubs. The 'Pathways' learning experience is Toastmasters' education program. This multi-language online learning tool allows you to leverage over 300 practical workplace skills. One of the committee will happily talk you through this. Through the support of our members and the wider Toastmasters community you will build your confidence and your ability to speak to whichever audience you have in mind. We have seen people overcome their stammer, get new jobs, and better engage with their staff, all through the advice and practice Cheltenham Speakers Club provides. It is free to come along as a guest to see what it's like. You're welcome anytime. Each meeting is split into stages to keep it 'zippy and lippy'. At the start we have a speaking game - so everyone can get to say a few words within the first few minutes. If you don't want to speak, just say "pass"! Then we have a 'table topics' game - your opportunity to practise speaking 'off the cuff' with whatever comes into your head for half a minute, or two minutes if you can flannel for that long! We may then hear two or three speeches - prepared in advance - given by members who are rising to challenges to help them develop their speaking skills or working their way through the Toastmasters Pathway programme. We then hear careful evaluations of each of these speeches ...and there is learning for everybody when we hear about all the layers which were in the speeches that have just been given. So either get in touch to find out more or join us at the Exmouth Arms, Bath Road, Cheltenham the first or third Tuesday of every month from 715pm.
