Family Space Family Space in Hesters Way, 'Offering a helping families with the ups and downs of family life by being Good News in the Community.

Family Space began in 1995 to build bridges with families in their local communities and then as our Mission Statement says, “To offer a helping hand with the ups and downs of family life” Currently Family Space offers 4 key activities that engage with local families and they are:
(a) Befrienders which offers support to parents in their own home, often having been referred to us by Health Visitors

;
(b) Stay & Play sessions for parents with their pre-playgroup children to learn more about how children develop through their play with their parent;
(c) ‘Time Out for Mums groups’ for those parents who have been identified as being isolated and subsequently find it difficult to engage in groups. These sessions run with a crèche provided. (d) The Cheltenham Child Contact Centre where children can spend time with the parent they no longer live with as a result of parental separation. Alongside that we run Resolve, which is an opportunity for parents to explore options with us as to how they can agree on how to make their own contact arrangements away from the Centre. The specific aims of Family Space are to:
• Develop people’s appreciation of themselves and their families.
• Encourage family relationships especially between parents and children.
• Encourage an on-going sense of hope that makes a difference.
• Provide opportunities for parents and children to enjoy time together.
• Provide space where children and parents can feel safe.
