The group is run by a committee of directors whose role it is to support staff and members. We are a family support group for parents/carers caring for a special needs child/children. Our children may have physical, mental or multiple handicaps. Others have developmental delay. The group works on a membership basis of which the monthly subscription is £2.00 paid by standing order or £24 per year.
When you have filled in your membership forms and joined as a member you are able to attend any activities/events we are running. This works by filling in a booking form and sending a cheque payment into our office. We will then send you a confirmation in the post and see you on the day of the activity. We offer the following:
- Support for the whole family - they are all special.
- To enable parents/carers to share information and offer a signposting facility e.g. ideas on coping strategies, special diets, toileting etc.
- Support for parents working with social services, education and health.
- Holiday activities eg. arts and crafts, farm visits, karting, bowling, coach trips etc.
- A variety of relaxation therapies at subsidised costs.
- Coffee mornings.
- Information exchange.
- Volunteering opportunities.
