For 20 years, WellChild Nurses have been helping children with complex medical needs leave hospital sooner and live well at home.

Behind every child is a family navigating appointments, equipment, routines and countless daily challenges. WellChild Nurses are there every step of the way, providing specialist support, practical guidance and reassurance when it's needed most.

Because childhood isn't meant to be lived on a hospital ward. It's found in the everyday moments that matter most: time together, family life, and simply being home.

Here's to 20 years of helping children and families own the everyday.

WellChild Nurses from across the UK have come together for a two-day annual conference, creating an opportunity to share knowledge, exchange experiences and learn from one another. Nurses have heard from a range of health professionals on topics including safeguarding, alternative communication, supporting families excluded from mainstream welfare, the psychological needs of children with complex medical needs, the NHS 10 Year Plan and much more.

A huge thank you to all our speakers for sharing their expertise and insights. By bringing together knowledge from across health and care, these sessions will help strengthen the support WellChild Nurses provide to children and young people with complex medical needs and their families. This shared learning will contribute to our work helping more children leave hospital sooner, live well at home and enjoy the everyday moments that matter most.

Our new look and voice reflect who we are today, the impact we're making together, and the future we're building. While our appearance has changed, our commitment to children and families remains exactly the same.

We're looking back at last week's WellChild Awards

Will, winner of the Inspirational Young Person (7-11 years) category, had a fantastic evening and proudly collected his award from Seema Jaswal and Children's Commissioner for England A very worthy winner and an inspiration to us all. Thanks to Spond for sponsoring the category.

Sarah and Carl received their award from Ed Chamberlin and Dame Kelly Holmes Official in recognition of their outstanding dedication as foster carers. Since 2014, they have provided loving, specialist care to children with complex medical needs, creating a safe, supportive family environment where every child can thrive. After hearing their inspiring story, the audience rose to their feet to give them a well-deserved standing ovation. A truly inspiring family and deserving WellChild Award winners.

A night that these winners will remember forever!

George, our worthy Special Recognition WellChild Award Winner had such a fantastic evening accepting his award on stage from Harry Judd Gok Wan and and we was blown away by his speech he shared with us. George also showed his new wheelchair skills to Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, who was super impressed 🌟 Thank you to CIBC who kindly sponsored this award category!
