We just wanted to let you know that The Cotswold Listener recently had a visit from Jo Durrant of BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

She interviewed all of News Team 7, then recorded two of the team reading and recording news articles.

She then interviewed June about TCL and wanted to know the processes we have to get the USBs to our Listeners, with then an appeal for more Listeners to register with us.

The article will be aired TOMORROW … Monday 20th April … on Jo's programme on BBC Radio Gloucestershire, which starts at 10.00 and finishes at 12.00 - she thought the TCL piece is likely to be between 11.00 & 12.00.

Should be great, do tune in! If you miss it on 20th, you can catch up later☺️👏🏼

If reading messages or navigating apps on your phone has started to feel more difficult, you’re not alone.
A reminder about our upcoming Digital Skills courses this April and May.
Our two session Introduction to Smart Device Accessibility course could help people who have some useful vision but are finding text harder to read on their phone or tablet.
Sessions will take place in Gloucester, Cirencester, Stroud and Cheltenham.
We’ll explore tools such as magnification and contrast settings, and introduce you to using digital assistants, so you can send messages, make calls, or ask questions using voice commands. Small adjustments can make a big difference to everyday use.
Places are limited, so please contact us on 01242 221170 to register your interest.
Separate screen reader courses will be available later in the year.

Image description: A close up photograph of a person holding a smartphone with large, high contrast text displayed on the screen. The screen shows options such as “Make Call,” “Dial Number,” “Address Book,” and “Recently Called,” with bold lettering and bright colours.. At the bottom, text reads, “Accessibility features already on your device” and “April & May courses,” alongside the Insight Gloucestershire logo.

The Cotswold Listener needs YOUR help ... please!

We have recently entered two categories in the So Glos Lifestyle Community Awards – The Charity of the Year and Volunteer Award for which we nominated Margaret Threadgold. Amazingly we have been shortlisted in both categories but in order to stand a chance of impressing the judging panel, we need YOU to vote. We are up against very strong competition. The more votes we receive from people living in and around Gloucestershire the better.
Voting closes on Sunday 29 March 2026.

The process of voting requires you to join SoGlos and set up a password. There is NO cost involved and you can cancel your subscription in the future, should you decide you want to! To join, visit www.soglos.com and register. Voting is exclusive to SoGlos members

Once you have done that click on the home page on soglos.com and then on the Lifestyle Awards feature. https://www.soglos.com/lifestyle-community-awards/ Click on that and scroll down until you come to Cast your votes now at soglos.com/glca/vote. You need to go almost to the bottom of the category entries where you will find:
Volunteer Award and Charity of the Year
Please select Margaret and The Cotswold Listener from the list of nominees shown.

With your help ... and that of family and friends if could pass this on, we may just stand a chance. Please like and share our post on Facebook to get as many people as possible voting.
