Meet 18-month-old Cece – a big, friendly girl with a big personality to match!

Cece has settled into Shelter life really well and takes all the everyday hustle and bustle in her stride. She’s a very sweet girl who already has plenty of character, although she isn’t too keen on being handled at the moment. Her new family will need to give her time to build trust and confidence at her own pace.

Cece is showing symptoms of a condition called E. cuniculi, which is a common parasite found in rabbits. It can affect rabbits in different ways, and some may show no symptoms at all, while others can develop issues such as balance, movement or kidney problems. Cece is being monitored by our team, and we’ll be happy to talk to potential adopters about her individual needs.

Because of this, Cece will need to be paired with another rabbit who has the same condition. Alternatively, she could be temporarily rehomed on her own while we wait for a suitable rabbit for her to bond with.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to support our Autumn Fun Day and Dog Show on Saturday! 🐾

Faces were painted, the bouncy castle never stopped bouncing, the BBQ and bar did a roaring trade (with Jennie’s special c***r punch going down a treat!), and of course, we had so many wonderful dogs entering the dog show and taking part in the very entertaining – and somewhat chaotic – Musical Sits competition!

We had an absolutely fabulous day, and it was wonderful to finally welcome our supporters to the Shelter during our centenary year, after having to cancel our Summer Open Day because of the hot weather.

Thanks to all of you, we raised an incredible £7,000 in just one afternoon for the animals in our care! What an amazing result!

We couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who came along, took part, spent, ate, drank, bounced, laughed and helped make the day so special.

A very special thank you must also go to our amazing volunteers, who worked tirelessly to make everything run smoothly. We’re also hugely grateful to everyone who donated raffle prizes, cakes and booze for our fundraising stands – your generosity made such a difference and helped us raise even more for the animals.

Our team were so busy running around making sure everything was perfect for our guests that, sadly, we didn’t manage to take many photos! Please share your photos from the day with us in the comments – we’d love to see them!

This Sunday we are delighted to share how ex-racing Greyhound, Tilly, is getting on in her new home.

Tilly was just two years old when she came to us from Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) who help ex-racing Greyhounds find new homes after they retire. After a couple of weeks at the Shelter, Tilly broke her toe, so we appealed for an urgent foster home to help her recover in a home environment.

Someone came forward to foster Tilly, (as so often is the case!) once Tilly had gone home with her, she couldn’t imagine life without her and the arrangement became permanent.

New owner Allyson told us:

“Tilly, now called Jazz, is really loving and an absolute cuddle monster, leaping up on us whenever we are sat down – I’m sure she’d get onto our lap if she could fit!

Jazz had broken her toe whilst zooming about in the paddock at the Animal Shelter and, having seen a Facebook post asking for an urgent foster home for her, we just couldn’t resist. We’ve had Greyhounds in our home for almost 26 years, so we are very experienced with the breed and just love Greyhounds.

So, I sent an email to enquire about fostering her and we took our other two Greyhounds to meet her a few days later. They all got on well, so she came home with us that day. The house is a little chaotic with three dogs but Jazz has settled into home life really well and we all love her to bits!

Although there were a few teething problems with the two bi***es in the household, all of the dogs are getting on well together now. They seem to have established who is top dog but as Jazz is so greedy, we have to be careful at dinner time or she’d eat everyone’s dinner!”

Rosa is an adorable six-month-old puppy looking for her forever home. She is a playful and affectionate little girl who loves to explore and have fun. Being so young, Rosa will need a home where someone is around most of the time to help guide her through her puppy training and ensure she grows into a well-rounded adult dog.

Rosa is great with handling and enjoys human attention, making her a wonderful companion. She will require plenty of training, including house training, socialization, and learning basic commands, so her new family must be prepared to dedicate time and patience to her development.

Rosa can live with children aged 10+ but will need to be the only pet in the household for now, as she’s still learning and adjusting to the world around her. Rosa has a playful nature and will thrive in a home that can provide her with plenty of mental and physical stimulation. Toys, enrichment activities, and positive interactions will be key to keeping her happy and engaged.

We’re teaming up with Cheltenham parkrun on Saturday 3 October at Pittville Park and we’d love to see you there!

Seven-year-old Nala is a stunning blue-eyed girl with a big personality and a lovely sprinkle of sass!

Nala is looking for an adult-only home where she can be the centre of attention. She needs to be the only dog in the home, giving her the opportunity to continue building positive experiences and confidence around other dogs while out and about, and she cannot live with cats or small animals.

Nala loves exploring the great outdoors, taking in all the exciting scents and enjoying her walks. A very secure garden with high fencing is essential for this adventurous girl. When she’s feeling playful, her bouncy zoomies and Husky “commentary” are sure to make you smile!

She enjoys affection from her favourite people and forms wonderful bonds once she trusts you. She’s a social girl who prefers being around her people rather than spending lots of time on her own.
