With reports from sabs of cub hunting now underway in some parts of the country and autumn stag hunting happening in the south-west, groups are preparing themselves for another full-on season of saving lives and exposing blood sports.

Another unnecessary loss yesterday.
Huge thanks to​ the caring members of public who called Gloucestershire Badger Group who then contacted us. We attended but sadly she had passed.

She was this year's cub with no visible injuries, most likely dehydrated and unable to find food. This hot weather creates huge challenges for badgers whose main source of food is worms, as the dry hard ground makes foraging nearly impossible.

Gloucestershire Badger Group and Cotswold Hunt Sabs continue to feed and water local wildlife, with trail cameras monitoring setts at risk of interference.

Its the Inglorious Twelfth today so lets hope this guy keeps his head down and the sabs are out in force to stop the knobheads out shooting them. With the moorland in a tinderbox state there's even less reason for pillocks to dress up in tweed and tramp around killing birds 🤬😡🤬

(And yes I know its a pheasant, the di*****ds don't know the difference and will shoot anything that moves, and I haven't got a picture of a grouse 😂)

🦊 CUB HUNTING IS ABOUT TO START IN THE COTSWOLDS 🦊

​August marks the start of the despicable and illegal cubbing season. These criminals go out at dawn and dusk to train young inexperienced hounds in this barbaric practice.
The hunts will surround small woodlands and coverts where they know vulnerable innocent fox families live. They will likely have been feeding these families over the summer.
​Riders and foot followers surround the areas to flush young fox cubs back into the woods, preventing them from escaping. This year's new hounds are sent in with more experienced hounds and are encouraged to tear the trapped cubs apart to build up their taste for killing ready for the main hunting season.
Cubbing is beyond reprehensible, a secretive illegal practice of animal abuse. ​They operate under the cover of early morning or late evening to stay hidden dressed in their rat catcher (tweed)

You can help by
👉 Reporting sightings. If you see horseboxes, hound trailers, quad bikes or hunt activity early in the morning or late evening call or drop us a direct message immediately . Any details you share with us will remain strictly confidential.
👉We’ll be out in the field multiple times a week and fuel and vehicle maintenance is our biggest cost.
👉If you can spare a few pounds every penny goes directly to keeping us out in the fields.

Please support Cotswold Hunt Sabs who work tirelessly as volunteers to stop the slaughter of our wildlife.

The hunts will be back out again soon and we'll be out there too in the fields every week protecting this year's cubs. They'll be on a mission to get as much illegal hunting in as possible before new regulations make it harder for them, which makes our work more vital than ever. Slaughter at sunrise: the horror of cub hunting.

Hunts may refer to it as autumn hunting but the premise is still the same, to train new, young hounds to kill foxes.

Cubbing begins in some areas at the very end of Summer with most hunts starting during the first weeks of autumn. It takes place during early morning and sometimes early evening and hunts will target an area where there are likely to be groups of young foxes that were born in the Spring.

Riders will surround an area such as a copse, and will create a wall of noise to scare any fleeing foxes back inside into jaws of the hounds.

The Government consultation to **ban trail hunting** has exactly **five weeks left** until the **June 18, 2026** deadline.
Your voice is needed now more than ever.
For too long, trail hunting has been used as a smokescreen to continue illegal chasing and killing of foxes, hares, and deer. This is our best opportunity in twenty years to close these loopholes for good and protect our wildlife from cruelty. Please take a few minutes to complete , your individual response helps prove the overwhelming public demand for a total ban.

The British Hound Sport Association are looking increasingly desperate in their reasons to keep fox hunting going, from now on I refuse to play the game of calling it "Trail" hunting. It's their bullsh!t not mine.
Anyway, back to the BHSA post. They claim it will now cost farmers £1,140,000 in costs to dispose of fallen livestock. The fact that fallen livestock is fed to the hounds is not something to be celebrated. We know what happened to the Kimblewick hounds that got infected by Btb from fallen livestock, shot, but not before p!ssing and sh!tting all over the countryside. But let's just blame the badgers.
Surely it doesn't take much joined up thinking to realise that feeding fallen livestock is a major disease risk, and a bit of a p!ss take after the millions it has cost the taxpayer, not to mention the cost to our wildlife over recent years. Just like the release of millions of non native game birds, disease risk doesn't come into it if a certain section of society want to have fun.
I'll copy and paste the response a farmer gave to their post on April the 18th in the comments. It highlights the issues perfectly.

The response from a farmer over the feeding of fallen livestock to hounds "Fallen stock service, for dairy farmers, it is a catastrophic biosecurity threat. I’ve lost 90% of my herd’s pregnancies to a Neospora abortion storm caused by this exact cycle.
When you feed raw, fallen stock to hounds, you turn them into Neospora 'disease factories.' While a dog only excretes eggs for a short period after infection, hunt hounds are constantly being re-infected because they are fed a steady diet of raw, infected carcasses. Those hounds then defecate on our land, where the oocysts (eggs) are either grazed directly or ensiled into silage clamps, where they can survive for 6 months or more, ready to infect the entire herd during winter feeding.
The damage is permanent: once a cow is infected, there is a 95% vertical transmission rate from mother to daughter. When those infected cattle die or abort and are collected by the hunt, they go right back into the kennel feed troughs to re-infect the hounds again. This creates a deadly, endless cycle of disease."
The APHA’s Herdsure®️ protocol specifically identifies foxhounds as a high-risk factor for this transmission. You cannot claim to support farmers while acting as a disease multiplier that bypasses the biosecurity we work so hard to maintain. A truly 'pro-farmer' organisation would stop feeding raw farm waste to hounds that are then taken onto livestock land."
