Chelmsford Lions helped out at Feed the 5000 Norwich this weekend, literally feeding as many people as wanted to take part with delicious veggie curry made from vegetables gleaned from the farm and which would otherwise have gone to waste. Our President Christine also read Wild Tribe stories to little ones and there was a showing of the People’s Emergency Briefing film outlining the science behind the climate and nature crises. A very busy weekend!

We recently celebrated our charter, the anniversary of our clubs formation, in style with our wider lions friends and family. Lion Keith was awarded a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellowship and lions Gillian and Shawn are now also Melvin Jones Fellows! Congratulations - much deserved all round! 👏🏻

The club were out in force again yesterday, race marshalling a fun run organised by Chelmsford Garden Community Council and collecting for the St Andrew’s Burns and Plastics unit appeal. The run took in the beautiful grounds of New Hall School, if it looks grand it’s because it was one of Henry VIII’s palaces!!!

Lion Gillian has just been to Lions International Convention in Hong Kong. This is Gillian handing the convention pendant (along with other official merch!) to President Christine. Thankfully she didn’t bring home any of the interesting food she saw over there (scorpion skewer anyone?) 🦁 🤩 🥳

What a great idea!

FREE wood available soon at Braintree Recycling Centre.💰

You can also now donate good quality small furniture, like bedside tables, to help others in your community.

There are separate containers for each, making it easy to drop off items you no longer need.

Even better, residents are welcome to take items home for free! It’s a simple way to save money, find something useful, and support local people at the same time. 💚

Take a look next time you're there (and don't forget to check out the free paint reuse too!) 🎨🪑
