Independence Project Ltd & Independence Clubs CIC Enabling people with additional needs to achieve INDEPENDENCE! We will have regular meetings with everyone who will ultimately decide what they want to do.

What We Offer

We offer a full personalised programme of activities to engage you within a fun safe environment whilst achieving goals. We are based in the city centre of Chelmsford, Essex. This is the home of Independence Project and can access many centre based activities such as;

employability skills / enterprise skills / woodwork skills / animal care / arts & crafts / filming and editing / f

ood preparation & cooking skills / basic household tasks / gardening / computer skills / drama workshops / sporting activities.

We are not just another day centre for adults! We place strong emphasis on learning and socialising outside of the centre. We feel that it is important to get out in the community and access many services that are open to us. Group activities on offer will be as follows;

museum trips / dog walking / gym classes / trips to the beach / bowling / trampolining / horse riding / farm trips / outdoor activity centres / shopping / travel training / boat trips / trips to the zoo / woodland walks / swimming / cycling / fishing / karaoke / meals out.

We have staff on hand to help you access all of these activities and more in a safe and accessible way. We can offer you accredited ASDAN qualifications that are based around employability skills and life skills giving you a sense of achievement whilst having fun with peers!

🌟 We had a fantastic time at the West Essex Learning Disability Festival! 🌟

It was wonderful to see so many people coming together to celebrate inclusion, build connections, and learn more about the support and opportunities available across Essex.

A huge thank you to the Essex County Council West - Learning Disability and Autism Team for organising such a brilliant event. The festival provided a fantastic opportunity for people, families, carers, and organisations to meet, share information, and enjoy a day full of activities in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to speak with us. We enjoyed meeting so many new people and catching up with familiar faces throughout the day.

Together, we can continue to create communities where everyone feels valued, included, and supported.

Today we are at the Essex SEND Local Offer Roadshow in Silver End, sharing all that Independence Project & Clubs has to offer, including:

➡️ 8-18's Activities - with after school and holiday clubs, NGU dance sessions and Saturday activities
➡️ Young adult day opportunities
➡️ Monday night socials
➡️ IndepenDANCE - live music club nights
➡️ Independence Journeys - supported holidays
➡️ The Washclub - providing work based training and employment opportunities
➡️ SEND Fest - fun festivals exclusively for children and young people with SEND, and their families

Today marks the beginning of Learning Disability Week with the 2026 theme "Do you see me?"

Here at Independence Project & Clubs, every day is about making sure people with learning disabilities are seen, heard, and valued.

We are proud advocates and champions for people with disabilities, and we strongly believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to achieve independence, reach their potential, and live the life they choose.

This week, and every week, we celebrate the strengths, achievements, and voices of people with learning disabilities while continuing to challenge barriers and promote inclusion for all. Find out more about the campaign @ mencap
