The Jim Melhuish Foundation

Jim was involved in youth football for more than 40 years and was recently (February 2020) awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Essex FA. His great passion was to encourage and develop children's potential using sport, in particular football. Jim's philosophy was to not only develop high levels of skill in a sport, but to use those skills to assist with their every day life, allowing them t

o flourish. As well as this philosophy Jim passed his knowledge, ethos and passion onto his three children who are all successful sports coaches/teachers. The Trustees of the Jim Melhuish Foundation, his family, are raising funds to help carry on with his voluntary work within the community, supporting children and young people and their participation in a variety of sports. The use of the funds raised will range widely, from providing equipment, clothing and financial support, which will assist young people to develop in their sporting activities. In the future Jim's family hope to fundraise at an annual event to be able to continue with this foundation and its efforts. Therefore, there is no time limit to this endeavour as the family wish Jim to be remembered for a long time, with the foundation being an appropriate legacy for him.
