Why not spend some time this summer helping with the Big Butterfly Count? Either download an ID chart or use the free app and see what you can find? See what you can find in your garden, or in Stonepath Meadows, or anywhere you happen to be out and about! Details below 🦋

The Big Butterfly Count 2025 is here and butterflies need our help! 🦋🚨

Butterflies are indicators of a healthy natural environment, but they are in trouble.

Last year, we declared a Butterfly Emergency after results revealed a marked and deeply concerning decline in butterfly numbers, the lowest in the Count’s history.

That’s why this year, we’re not just launching a survey, we’re launching a nationwide rescue mission, and we need everyone to get involved.

No lab coats. No science degrees. Just 15 minutes of your time. ⏱️

CAN YOU FIND OUR REWILDING SIGNS??

The children of Hatfield Peverel St Andrew's Junior School have worked very hard to make these 12 beautiful signs to highlight the areas that we are rewilding in the village. Can you find them??

For the second year, Hatfield Peverel Parish Council are leaving some grassy areas to grow longer and allow native flowers to bloom and provide vital food for bees, butterflies and other pollinators and shelter for small mammals.

A very big THANK YOU! to the children! 💚🌼🐝🦋🐞🐁🦔🌸🧡
