Jones Homes Update 02/09/26

Jones Homes, who will be developing the land to the west of Cricketers Green, have provided an update advising that they expect the final decision notice, which will enable development to commence, to be issued this month.

Consequently, residents are likely to see some ‘light’ activity on site in the form of site preparation in advance of the ‘start’ of development in the form of the arrival of site compound buildings and the formation of a car park for contractors and some vegetation removal.

A survey of the roads in the area will also be undertaken in advance of works so that dilapidation as a result of the construction activity, once compete can be established and remediated.

Detailed designs for the puffin crossing are being drawn up and are likely to be submitted to Cheshire East Council later this month. The construction of the puffin crossing is required prior to first occupation of the new dwellings, however, Jones Homes would like to deliver this part of the scheme earlier than this. The crossing cannot, however, be delivered prior to approval of the designs by Cheshire East Council.

Cheshire East Local Plan: Scoping Consultation

Residents, businesses and community groups are being invited to help shape the future of Cheshire East as the council launches a consultation on its new Local Plan.

The new Local Plan will guide planning decisions across the borough, shaping how Cheshire East grows and develops into the 2040s.

It’s an investment framework that will set out how and where new homes, jobs and infrastructure are delivered, while helping to protect the borough’s countryside, green spaces and heritage.

A ‘scoping consultation’ marks the first key stage in preparing the new Local Plan since work officially got underway last month. It gives people the opportunity to share their views on the key issues, challenges and opportunities that should shape the plan.

The council is seeking feedback on a range of topics, including housing, employment, transport, community infrastructure, climate change, the natural environment, heritage, health and wellbeing.

People are also invited to comment on the vision and priorities for the new plan, and how they would like to be involved in future consultation and engagement activities.

The current consultation is focused on the scope of the new Local Plan and is not inviting the submission of sites for development. There will be future opportunities for sites to be submitted and considered as the plan progresses.

The consultation runs until 5pm on Tuesday 1 September 2026.

The consultation can be responded to online, via email, or by writing to: Cheshire East Council (Strategic Planning Team), Delamere House, Delamere Street, Crewe, CW1 2LL.

Chelford Activity Park - Bike Track!

Chelford Parish Council has been considering options relating to the bike track at Chelford Activity Park.

The redevelopment of the existing track would involve a significant investment, therefore, the Parish Council is exploring ways to maximise opportunities to access grant funding.

As part of this process, consideration is being given to hiring a temporary modular pump track for a short time (1, 2 or 3 weeks) to enable local feedback to be gathered and to support design work.

Residents are encouraged to complete the following survey which will help to guide Parish Council discussions and the decision making process.
