🚜🐃 PLEASE HELP SAVE OAKLEYS FARM 🐃🚜

At LUOSKO, we know first-hand the blood, sweat and tears that go into building something from the ground up. That's why we're standing alongside our friends at Oakleys Farm.

After 15 years of hard work, Oakley has built a thriving farm from selling eggs at just 15 years old into a business that now supports 23 local jobs and rears over 80 water buffalo. Following the loss of their planning appeal, the barns, farm shop, offices and essential facilities that keep the farm operating have been ordered to be demolished. Without them, the farm simply cannot continue.

This isn't just about one family. It's about British farming, local jobs, food production, and preserving businesses that are built on hard work and passion.

When people see a fundraising stall, a raffle, a tombola, a sponsored challenge or a community event, they see the finished result.

What they don't always see are the hours of planning, organising, collecting donations, setting up, packing away, coordinating volunteers and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

This Volunteer Week, we'd like to celebrate our incredible Fundraising Team and give a special thank you to **Julie**, who works tirelessly organising and arranging so much of what happens throughout the year.

🐾❤️ RESCUE DOGS: MYTHS vs FACTS ❤️🐾

Few subjects in the dog world attract more myths, assumptions and misinformation than rescue dogs.

Almost every week we hear things like:

❌ "They'll all have behavioural problems."

❌ "You can't teach an old dog new tricks."

❌ "Rescue dogs are damaged."

❌ "You'll never know what you're getting."

❌ "They're only in rescue because they've done something wrong."

The truth?

Most rescue dogs are simply victims of circumstance.

Relationship breakdowns.

Financial hardship.

Ill health.

Bereavement.

Changes in housing.

Changes in family circumstances.

Many have done absolutely nothing wrong.

Like all dogs, some rescue dogs arrive with challenges.

But they also arrive with enormous potential.

At LUOSKO German Shepherd Dog Rescue, we don't look at a dog's past and decide their future.

We assess the dog in front of us.

We look at who they are today.

And most importantly, we look at who they could become tomorrow.

What rescue dogs need isn't pity.

They need:

🐾 VOLUNTEERS' WEEK 2026 – DAY 2 🐾

❤️ Kennels, Care & The Dogs ❤️

When people think about rescue, they often think about the dogs.

What they don't always see are the incredible volunteers behind the scenes who make every day possible.

Before most people have finished their first cup of tea, our volunteers are already hard at work preparing breakfasts, washing bowls, cleaning kennels, changing bedding, preparing enrichment, filling KONGs, exercising dogs and making sure every resident receives the care they deserve.

For many of our dogs, rescue is a confusing and uncertain time. Some arrive frightened, neglected, under-socialised or simply unsure of what comes next.

It is our volunteers who provide consistency.

It is our volunteers who provide routine.

It is our volunteers who provide kindness.

Whether it's a quiet walk, a gentle brush, a game in the field, preparing a meal or simply sitting with a dog who needs company, every act of care matters.

Every dog that has passed through LUOSKO has benefited from the dedication of our kennel volunteers.

To every volunteer who has ever scrubbed a kennel, washed a bowl, filled a KONG, walked a dog or shared a cuddle...

Today marks the start of Volunteers' Week, and here at LUOSKO we'd like to say a huge THANK YOU to every single volunteer who helps us care for German Shepherds in need.
