It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we share the loss of our beautiful sanctuary bunny, Yolandi.

Yolandi was one of the very first rabbits to come into the care of Fluffy Butts Rescue over seven years ago, and from the moment she arrived, she made sure everyone knew she was in charge. Full of character, determination and mischief, she kept us on our toes every single day, and we loved her all the more for it.

When Yolandi first arrived with us, she was experiencing seizures and it quickly became clear that she would need lifelong support, which is why she became one of our much-loved sanctuary residents. Despite her health challenges, Yolandi enjoyed many happy years filled with love, treats, adventures and plenty of opportunities to cause mischief.

Over the past year, her health began to decline and we worked closely with our vets to give her the best quality of life possible. There were countless vet visits, daily nebulising treatments and lots of extra care and attention. Thanks to this support, we were able to enjoy more precious time with her, and she continued to enjoy life despite becoming increasingly frail.

Sadly, Yolandi passed away in Robs arms, leaving a huge hole in our hearts.

We are absolutely devastated. Yolandi meant the world to her guardians, Rob and Candy, and she was loved dearly by everyone here at Fluffy Butts Rescue. Seven years of memories, laughter, worry, cuddles and love can never be replaced.

Thank you, Yolandi, for your stubbornness, your determination, your endless antics and for trusting us to be your family. We were so lucky to share your journey and we will miss you more than words can ever say.

💚 World Mental Health Day 💚

Rescue is full of love, but there’s a side people don’t always see.

Behind every animal we care for are hours of animal care, vet appointments, cleaning, enrichment, fundraising and finding safe spaces. There are difficult decisions, witnessing heartbreaking situations, losing animals we desperately wanted to save, and carrying the guilt of sometimes arriving too late. ❤️‍🩹

On top of this, rescue workers can face cruel messages and judgement from people who don’t see the full picture, despite us doing everything we can with the time, space and resources available.

It takes an emotional toll. We celebrate the happy endings, but we carry the heartbreak, the worry and the feeling that there’s always another animal who needs us.

So if our page sometimes goes quiet, please understand that we haven’t disappeared. 💚 We’re often busy behind the scenes, caring for animals and keeping everything going. Social media can sometimes fall to the bottom of the list, because the animals in our care must come first.

Behind every rescue is a human being, doing their best and often carrying more than you can see.

This World Mental Health Day, we want to remind everyone that it’s okay to feel overwhelmed, to take a step back, to rest and to ask for help. The people who spend their lives caring for others need care, too. You cannot pour from an empty cup. 🫶

To everyone who supports Fluffy Butts Rescue with kindness, patience, donations and shares - thank you. Your understanding means more than you know.

To all our fellow rescues and rescue friends, we see you, we appreciate you, and we know how hard you work, even when the world doesn’t see it. You’re all doing wonderful things for animals who need you, and please never forget that the difference you make matters. We’re all in this together. 💚 🫶🏻

Fluffy Butts Rescue is looking for kind hearts to offer a safe, loving space to rabbits who just need a little time before finding their forever homes.

You’ll need:
🐰 To live within reach of our vets in Leek
🐰 A quiet indoor room for a rabbit‑safe setup
🐰 A few months of care (short‑term fosters also welcome)

We’ll provide:
🌿 Food, hay, enrichment, and vet support
🗣️ Ongoing guidance and check‑ins
💖 A warm community of fellow bunny lovers

No experience needed -just patience, compassion, and a bit of space to help a rabbit feel safe again. 🐇💚

Ralf has been in to see Christian, and we’re really relieved to share that he’s much improved. He’s even managed to put on a tiny bit of weight - a small but very welcome step for him.

Christian confirmed that Ralf still has arrhythmia, and this is something that will likely be normal for him going forward. It does mean we need to keep an eye on him when he exerts himself, as bunnies with arrhythmia can be prone to fainting. We’ve never seen him do this, so hopefully it stays that way, but we’ll continue to watch him closely.

Because Ralf is a stress bunny Christian chose not to repeat bloods this time. Avoiding unnecessary stress is really important for him. Ralf will be due another check‑in in a few weeks, unless anything changes sooner.

His medications will continue to be collected monthly, and we’ll keep everyone updated as we go.

Thank you for always sending this little lad so much love - it truly helps him along. 💚

Today’s Fluffy Butt Friday is a little different - a look back at the very first rabbit who came through our doors, the one who changed everything for us: Midnight.

Midnight was the bun who taught us what rescue means. She arrived tiny, fragile, and full of spirit, and she left the deepest pawprints on our hearts. Although she’s no longer with us, her legacy is woven into every rabbit we help today. She was gentle, clever, stubborn in the funniest ways, and endlessly loving - especially with her soulmate, Loki.

Loki adored her from the moment they met. The two of them were inseparable: sharing snacks, snuggling into perfect little bunny puddles, and moving through life as a bonded pair who understood each other completely. Their bond was the kind that reminds you why rabbits deserve the world.

We miss Midnight every day, but celebrating her means celebrating the beginning of Fluffy Butts Rescue - the bun who started it all, and the love story that showed us just how magical rabbits can be.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our pub quiz. It was great to see so many people coming to support us. We raised £131 which includes a £20 donation from the Prince of Wales.

A fun quiz hosted by our Quiz Master Kerry with chip butties during the interval. 😋

Ralf is off to see the specialist today for further checks and to see how he’s doing and discuss continued treatment. We’ll share an update with you all as soon as we can.

Happy today it’s our temporary house guest Ginger. Who will shortly be joining his two friends at his forever home.
