Today’s fluffy butt is Ralf 💚

Ralf and all of us at Fluffy Butts Rescue would like to thank everyone for the generous donations made towards his illness.

Ralf has been diagnosed with a heart condition which means that he will be on medication for life, it was noticed that something was severely wrong when he started mouth breathing and had no interest in food.
He started to become dehydrated and tests showed that his blood had become thick which was causing stress to the lungs and heart. It was also noticed by our vet that he had heart arrhythmia, after various X-rays, a scan and tests, treatment was started straight away to try and stabilise the issues that he was experiencing.

He’s currently doing well and will be back at the exotic vets for a check up on the 7th September.

🚨 RABBIT FOSTERERS NEEDED🚨

Fluffy Butts Rescue is on the lookout for kind-hearted fosterers to open their homes (and hearts) to our bunnies while they wait for their forever home.

What we need
⚫️You live within commutable distance of our main vets in Leek
⚫️ You can commit to fostering for at least a couple of months (we do also shorter term fosters for emergencies or holiday cover )
⚫️ You have a separate indoor room for setting up a rabbit-safe space (unfortunately we can’t supply outdoor set-ups)
What we’ll provide
⚫️ Food, hay, enrichment, and full veterinary support
⚫️ 24/7 advice and check-ins from our rescue team
⚫️ A community of fellow rabbit lovers to share tips and stories

No experience? No problem-if you have the space and the love, we’ll guide you every hop of the way. 🐇💕

💚 we want to say a heartfelt Thank You 💚

Over the past few weeks, we have been overwhelmed by the kindness, generosity, and compassion shown by this community. We want to say a truly heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated, shared our posts, attended events, and reached out with support.

Because of you, Fluffy Butts Rescue is in a much better position than we were at the start of this crisis. Your donations have given us breathing room, stability, and hope. We are not out of the woods yet (our situation is still serious, and we have a long road ahead) but your support has genuinely helped keep our rescue standing for the next few weeks.

Every pound donated goes directly to the animals.
Every share helps us reach someone new.
Every act of kindness reminds us why this rescue exists.

Who fancies a good old fashioned pub quiz?

📍 Location: Prince of Wales Leek

Join us for your chance to win a cash prize 💰 and to help raise money for a good cause! It’s win win.

This will be hosted at Prince of Wales in Leek (Fernwood Drive, ST13 8JD) starting at 17:00.

It is £2 per person which includes chip butties which the Prince of Wales are kindly providing for us. (Vegan butter will be used). These will be served during the interval.

All money raised is going to our vet bills. You can prebook for this or show up on the day. We will also have some merchandise available for purchase.

This is an extremely difficult post to write but with great sadness we have to inform you that sanctuary bunny Ophelia passed away on 5/8/26, she will be greatly missed by all of us at the rescue, especially her husbun Ralf and her foster mum Sally. Ophelia has been sick on many occasions and has always pulled through but on this occasion it was just too much for her tiny body.

Ophelia was a beautiful bunny who we took in from a hoarding case and was initially not expected to survive due to issues we encountered with her health but she remained with us for around 2 1/2 years, she was grumpy, sassy, loving, gentle, had everything on her own terms and we will miss her greatly.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Leek Veterinary Clinic for the support that you have given us with Ophelia.

Rabbits can quickly become seriously ill in hot weather, so it's important to know the signs of heatstroke. ☀️🐰

Watch out for:
🐰 Panting or rapid breathing
🐰 Weakness or confusion
🐰 Drooling or wetness around the nose and mouth
🐰 Lying stretched out and unresponsive

If you notice any of these signs, contact a rabbit-savvy vet immediately.

It’s not the update we ever wanted to share, but last week was an incredibly difficult one for us.

Sadly, Biscuit passed away.

He was absolutely fine the day before, but in the morning he just wasn’t himself. We rushed him straight to the vets, but despite everything, he sadly died. It was sudden, shocking, and completely heartbreaking for everyone who loved him.

Guinea pigs are prey animals, which means they are incredibly good at hiding illness until they can’t anymore. Even tiny changes- quieter behaviour, not eating as much, sitting differently, being less interactive , can be a sign something serious is happening. If you ever notice anything out of the ordinary, it’s so important to get them straight to the vet.

Biscuit was a gentle, lovely boy, and we’re devastated to have lost him so unexpectedly.

He is going to be bonded with another lovely bun and live the rest of his life in luxury.

It’s be hard at the rescue recently but this makes everything worth it!
